Ruth’s P.O.V
I opened my eyes and I was in an empty room with Alice. I felt drained, more tired than I felt before. ‘Ruth, good you’re finally awake.’ She opened up her thoughts so I’d hear them telepathically. ‘Don’t say anything out loud or they’ll hear us.’ we were sitting on the floor against the wall.
‘Who?’ I asked telepathically. ‘Were we in another trance?’ The school games seemed like the least likely time for this to happen. We were surrounded by officers and an audience.
Alice was alert. ‘Yeah, when I woke up your eyeballs were completely blue. It happened right after the beasts were released from the cages. I think the two events were linked.’
‘You think it was just a distraction to get us out of there?’ I looked around the blank white room.
