Chase scared me for a beat when he mentioned the hospital. But I was glad I handled the situation well.
If I had freaked out, he would have gotten suspicious.
But as I walked into my room, I was surprised that he didn’t stop me. Normally, Chase would be persistent and annoying because he wanted to talk to me.
Maybe the trip had changed him.
