Chapter 4

Julian looked deeply annoyed. "Willa, stop making a scene!" I ignored him. Looking down at my phone, I saw another message appear in the chat. The person said he'd come in 3 minutes. It was 11:56. The venue manager poked his head out again. "Are you going in or not? There are only 4 minutes left. If you don't go in now, there won't be a wedding today." The bridesmaid started crying. "Julian, did you hear that? Only 4 minutes left!" The guests tried to persuade him too. "Julian, go in first. Don't make Willa wait for nothing again." Julian looked at Stella. Stella clutched the rosary tightly, her eyes red. "Julian, why don't you two go in first? "I'll be fine. I'm only an outsider, after all. My blessing isn't that important." After saying that, she lowered her head again and searched beneath the flower stand, her shoulders trembling slightly. Julian quickly crouched down to comfort her. "Don't say that. You're not an outsider." The room fell completely silent. The way everyone looked at me changed. But I remained calm. I lifted the train of my wedding gown and walked toward the ballroom doors. "Willa, what are you doing?" I looked at the clock on the wall. "I said I would complete the wedding this time. So I'm going in." Julian's expression darkened. He hurried after me and grabbed my wrist. "Willa, stop it. If I'm not going in with you, how are you supposed to have a wedding by yourself?" I slowly pulled my hand free. "If you're not going in, someone else will." The guests exchanged uneasy glances. Someone whispered, "Willa must be really mad." "She's probably trying to force Julian to walk down the aisle." "You can't blame her. This is already the fourth time. Who could put up with that? I would have snapped long ago." I heard every word. But I felt nothing. They thought I was throwing a tantrum. They thought I was trying to force Julian into marrying me. But only I knew the truth. I simply didn't want to wait for him anymore. At that moment, Stella stood up, still holding the broken rosary. Her eyes were red as she looked at me. "Willa, don't do this. "A wedding is about two people. How can you use this to threaten Julian? "He's already here at the wedding. He only wants to make sure I can give you my blessing properly. If you pressure him like this, he'll be upset too." Julian seemed to finally come to his senses. His eyes held disappointment and impatience as he looked at me. "Willa, when did you become like this? You used to be so considerate." I looked at him and suddenly found it ridiculous. "Considerate? You mean I should smile and say it's fine after you postponed our wedding so many times?" Julian's throat bobbed. I continued, "You mean my parents should prepare a wedding banquet again and again, only to clear the food from the tables every time? "You mean my grandfather, who has high blood pressure, should make an exception and drink today, only to have his hopes crushed again? "Or do you mean that, with noon almost here, I should stand here in my wedding dress and wait while my groom helps another woman look for a bead?" He had no answer. "Julian, it's not that I'm not considerate. I've been considerate for so long that you forgot I could be hurt too." It was 11:58. Inside the ballroom, the band began playing the opening notes of the wedding march on schedule. The officiant's voice rang out through the microphone. "Please welcome the bride and groom." I didn't look at Julian again. I pushed open the doors. Light spilled across the floor. Behind me, Julian rushed forward, reaching for the train of my gown. "Willa!" Just then, the side door of the ballroom flew open. Everyone turned toward the sound. A man in a black suit strode quickly down the aisle. His dress shoes struck the red carpet, his footsteps rapid and certain. He reached the end of the aisle and stopped in front of me. His chest rose and fell slightly. He had run here, and a fine sheen of sweat covered his forehead. In his hand was a dark red velvet ring box. He held out his hand to me. "Willa, I made it before noon. The ring is here. Come on. Let's get married."
