He left, and when he did, the hollow in my stomach deepened.
He hadn't even fought for us, fought for our love. Whatever it was that we had. He hadn't even shown any sign that he appreciated it, and now I was left all alone to my mother.
I couldn't find the right words to say, just couldn't conjure them. She looked wretched, like the whole world was crashing in on her, and she was letting it close up on her.
