It felt like i couldn’t breathe as i watched Leahs black tail disappear into the trees. My chest felt like it was being constricted. I watched her slink through the trunks until not even my dragon eyes could track her anymore. Turning with a sigh I found Amara staring at me.
“What?” I asked when the silence was too much.
She shrugged. “You actually like her don’t you. It's not just a-” She stammered to a halt, her cheeks flaming. “It's not like how you used to me. It's not lust.”
I turned my face away. “No, it's not just lust.” Desperately I searched the forest for my mate but there was nothing but silence under the trees. She had disappeared. “Not with her.”
