CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO Blake Canvanaugh, owner and operator of Cavanaugh’s Carnival, stood in the doorway of his office trailer and both watched and listened to his wife of three weeks as she gave out work orders to the varied carnival crew. For years, he had been known as a dedicated bachelor. Tall, dark and handsome; no one had caught his eye until Rebecca. He still felt as if he should pinch himself to be certain he wasn’t dreaming. Rebecca didn’t yell at the crew the way he did – Rebecca said he barked the orders at people – instead, she spoke softly, and every single person leaned forward to listen raptly. Even Dora, both a good friend and worker, listened, nodding her head as she did. Blake had to admit, he did tend to bark out orders. It was how he got things done, yet it was amazing
