Chapter One: The Dream

1705 Words
Elle took a minute to think back to when her dream first began. Once she found out that she was pregnant, all those years ago, she knew that that was what her life had in-store for her. She would be a housewife, and she would strive to be the best housewife there could be! Some women dreamed of going to college, some dreamed of a career, but for Elle, her dream was...from that day forward, to run a household! With an upcoming baby in the way, Avery had made Elle an honest woman. She thought back to that day and a happy smile came upon her lips. “I have some news,” young Elle ran over to her boyfriend, Avery after he had just gotten back from his early morning Math class. Much to his surprise, Avery had made her way into his dorm room to wait for him. He had given her a key the month before. Unbeknownst to Avery, earlier that morning Elle had felt under the weather. She skipped her own morning Psychology class. Once she had set her feet on the floor to get out of bed, Elle’s stomach rumbled. It was a mere instant later that Elle ran to the trash bin and sprayed everything that she had consumed the night before. Elle assumed she had just gotten a touch of the stomach bug. It was going around school. So she honestly didn’t think a ton about it. That is, until she stopped to think. She had been a few weeks late with getting her period. Why hadn’t she thought of it earlier? “s**t,” Elle yelled loudly! So instead of curling back up in her dorm room bed, Elle made her way into her closet. There she had all her medicines, toiletries, etc. she kept them there because she didn’t have her own private bathroom in her dorm. She had to share with many people. She was at least lucky enough to get her own room. So she tiptoed down the hall with her toiletries bag in hand and hoped that she wouldn’t run into any of her classmates. Luckily for her, she did not, because after the first upchuck session, Elle knew she didn’t look her best. Once inside the restroom, Elle locked the door, set her bag down in the sink and fingered through the bag. At the very bottom, a place where she had hoped she wouldn’t have had to go, at least during first semester of her freshman year in college, Elle found what she was look for. She stared at the plastic packaging. It was a pregnancy test and this was the first time she had ever had to take one. She tore through it swiftly. Elle then proceeded to use the toilet and pee on the stick. Then it was a waiting game. Two who minutes! Back in his dorm room, Avery was completely shocked to see her. They were only a few buildings away from each other, but he also knew she had class. “What are you doing here? Are you alright? You don’t look so hot,” he noticed what she hadn’t, which was streak of vomit that had made its way down her sweatshirt. Noticing now what he had noticed, Ellen looked embarrassed. “Ah yeah, I was sick,” she shrugged her shoulders. “So what are you doing here. I don’t want the stomach bug,” he backed away from her now. “I don’t have a stomach bug, Avery,” she walked towards him. “Well, how do you know. You have vomiting all over you,” he states the obvious? Elle proceeded to walk closer to him. “Because I am pregnant with your child,” she blurted out! “Your what,” Avery dropped his backpack that he had been holding? “I’m pregnant!” “Oh my god, Elle! We are going to have a baby,” Avery now processes her statement fully! Both Elle and Avery, despite the shock, were thrilled! Avery proposed to Elle a week and a half later. And within two months the pair were married! With the help of her and Avery’s parents, they were able to buy a beautiful lake house, not too far from away from them. Thankfully, Elle came from money and her parents were footing most of their mortgage; they did this to ensure that Elle’s family would be able to keep close to them. With this huge financial help, her now husband Avery, was able to finish up college, even after the baby was born. He received a degree as an IT Specialist, focusing on home security. He was able to find a job at a startup tech company in upstate New York, not too far from home. Thankfully for them, his job gave him the luxury to work in the office, work at home, or travel around to customers, if needed. Fortunately for Elle, this allowed her the life that she had always wanted...after that Freshman year of college, Elle decided that she had wanted to become a housewife. So she left school and took care of her family. After several years of it just being Avery, Harper and Elle, things started to become complacent for her. Even though Elle loved being a housewife more than anything else, she needed more; she needed something else. She tried everything, and yet nothing scratched that itch that she had found herself having. One can only do so much baking, cleaning the house, shopping, lunches with friends, playdates, and watching soap operas before they start to go mad. This was where Elle found herself. She knew she needed to make a change! So, Elle and Avery decided to have another baby. When Harper was 6 years old, Parker joined their lives. 9 lb and 4 oz later, and that was it for Elle having kids. Being a small, petite woman of only 5' 2", weighing in at 115 lbs, Parker literally took a toll on Elle's body that she never wanted to have happen ever again. She had been lucky the first pregnancy. That was easy. She bounced right back. But the second one was a little different. She was older and her body was not as forgiving. She had to work a little harder to get where she had wanted to be. True, she knew that a he was being selfish not wanting anymore kids, but her body was a trophy, and no longer would she tarnish it. Sitting in the kitchen, Elle reflected on her rollercoaster of emotions over the years. She sipped her piping hot coffee and smiled contentedly. Yes, her family had come along way. She wasn’t always sure she would have been able to stick it out this long, with the same man, that is, but she did, and she held her family together. Her son, Parker, was now 8 years old and Harper was 14. A lot of years had passed since Elle had felt the itch. She had occupied her time with homework and sporting events, that Elle didn’t have time to be bored. But it finally happened. She was now back in the same place that she was some 8 years ago... complacent. What should she do with her life now, to spice up being housewife? Elle needed more. Don't get me wrong, she loved her life, but that wild girl that lived inside her once, had now began to show its ugly head again. She couldn’t stop it either. Elle didn’t want to not be content. She envied the woman in the PTA or at the grocery store, that seemed happy with what they had going on. Not Elle. Not anymore anyway! Elle thought back to her last trip to the market. There she was, right in the produce aisle, feeling for fresh avocados, when a man in his early 40’s came walling up nearby. He was not as tall as she typically found attractive. He was nothing like Avery. But he was a man, no less. He had an average Dad bod build and dressed mediocre. Any other time Elle wouldn’t have given him the light of day besides a casual hello. But this time was different. This time Elle found herself fantasizing right dead center of the grocery store. The man, who was clearly married, came up next to her and reached for the peaches. In his large firm hands he squeezed ever so gently to get the feel of their ripeness. When he did, every hair stood up on Elle’s body. She wanted to be that fruit. She wanted this stranger to knock the avocados out of her hands and take her right there. She dreamed that those strong hands, which once felt the firmness of the peaches, would then squeeze the firmness in her breasts. She had been so silly for feeling that way. The moment didn’t last for more than a minute. But it was then that Elle knew that she needed more in her life. No longer was she content with vanilla. She needed spice! Elle left the market that day with a moist set of panties and a date with her vibrator at home. She didn’t even wait to put the groceries away before she v-lined for the bedroom. She knew what her priorities were and she knew that the groceries could wait. She just needed a good two minutes. It would be quick. She had already worked her senses up from fantasizing about the man at the store that it wouldn’t take her long to reach her peak. And that she did! One final flick of the wrist and Elle felt that sense of relief swarm over her. Elle, who was now fully aware that she was back in her kitchen, home alone, looked around. Everything was so perfect. The dish towel was folded nearly on the counter. The chairs had all been pushed in, just so. The paper towels had the slightest pointed crease to them that she, herself, put in, each and every time she used one. And the cabinet doors all remained nearly shut. Her kitchen was perfect. Elle didn’t feel perfect though.
