Chapter 2-Bizzare encounter

1181 Words
Unknown POV I heaved a long sigh as my plane finally lands, I was tired from not having slept the whole night. Our flight was cancelled last night due to some unexpected aircraft problem and I haven't had a good rest for the past few nights. I have been meeting with some of the Alphas of the biggest packs and it just so happens that there was always a party that followed in the evening and it would be rude for me not to attend. My father, the previous Alpha of our pack insisted that I pay his Alpha friends a visit because i just took over our pack a few months ago and he wanted me to know them and the future Alphas of their pack to maintain a good relationship. Although we were one of the biggest and strongest packs around, my father believed that aside from power, an Alpha must also respect peace, for this is the greatest gift we can bestow upon our people. This is one of the reasons why I agreed to this never-ending Alpha-meet-and-greet. I closed my eyes, waiting impatiently to deplane. "Just a few more nights," i thought to myself. When doors opened, both me and my beta couldn't wait to get out. I'm sure both of us looked like the walking dead right now because of the bags under our eyes, but we just couldn't find it in ourselves to sleep in airports. The flight attendants standing by the door, however, seem to have a different perception of how we looked for they were surely batting their eyelashes at us and if my beta wasn't too exhausted, I was pretty sure atleast 1 lucky lady would be picked. When we were finally out, we decided to find a decent food corner to eat. My wolf has been restless since after we deplaned so i figured maybe the hunger was getting to him. We found this stall and decided to order burgers. My stomach was highly satisfied with our meal but not my wolf, this was highly unusual of him so I decided that we should find a hotel nearby first and get some much needed rest before travelling to our next destination. While walking towards the exit through the busy lounge of the airport, my wolf started going crazy, he couldn't explain it but he kept howling and pacing back and forth. I was too consumed with how loud my wolf was inside my head that i bumped into someone, the contact sent tingles throughout my whole body, like i was being slightly electrified in a wonderful sort of way. That very abrupt encounter made me lose all sense of time as my world slowed down on its own. It took a couple of seconds for me to finally break out of the daze and for me and my wolf to fully process what we have just felt, we realize that we have found our mate!  "MATE!" ____________________ Once we realized that we found our mate, her scent hit me, her scent smelled like it was carried by the wind from a valley of flowers, fresh, sweet, aromatic, i bet it would instantly calm the one who breathes it in. I noticed her scent fading out and immediately thought that something was off about this. I knew for a fact that a mate's smell is strongest when you're about to meet him/her the first time but this, this was different, her scent wasn't that strong to even begin with, it also only came after I've already had contact with her. That wasn't how it was supposed to work right? I quickly looked around for that person I bumped into hoping she hasn't gotten away yet, but nobody stood out. I tried to follow her scent but unfortunately, her scent didn't linger long enough around for me to track. "Why is her scent so faint? Is there anything wrong with your nose?!" my wolf frustratedly told me, "Our sense of smell is perfectly fine, thank you. I'm pretty sure we both smelled the arousal of those flight attendants who kept trying to get our attention during the flight," i continued rubbing my forehead thinking how we could've missed our mate. "Is it maybe because she's human?", already knowing the answer, i still told my wolf. "We know how crazy Vincent went when he first smelled his human mate, so no i don't think it's because of that and i think you already knew that" my wolf answered. My beta must have noticed that I wasn't behind him when he reached the exit because i received a mindlink from him "hey man! where are you? Did you come back for those chicks earlier? I thought you were too tired so i didn't even bother getting their number I swear if—" i cut him off before he could finish. I was already too pissed I lost my mate and that I couldn't track her, and now this guy is accusing me of going back just to pick up random girls which I never do because i am genuinely not interested in girls who look too desperate for my attention, they're the type who would cause problems for my future mate. "My mate," i told my beta over the mindlink, "your what?! you met our Luna?! is she with you now?" "i didn't exactly meet her, i bumped into her and now i can't find her", "wha— you're not making any sense, Alpha. How could you miss your mate? how could you have lost her? I'm on my way there." When he came back I briefly explained to him what happened and he was also confused as to why i only smelled her scent "after" rather than "before" meeting her. Knowing our mate was in the same location as us explained why my wolf was being restless earlier, but it did not, however, explained why my wolf wasn't able to point out that what he was feeling was already the mate pull. This case scenario was something we surely didn't know growing up. We decided to try and keep looking for her even though it was clearly an impossible mission, I didn't even know what she looked like. I was practically running around like a crazy person, going to every possible direction she could've walked into judging from where we bumped and where I thought she went, hoping that I would at least be able to come near her enough for me to catch a scent of her smell again. "We can't afford to lose her, we waited for her all these years, we must find her!" my wolf said, sounding as helpless as i felt during the moment. I was on to the final corner that i haven't checked yet when I finally caught the faintest smell of her scent, "she's here! our mate is here!" I followed where it was coming from but to my dismay, it led me to the very busy parking lot and the scent then completely dissipated.
