Beep beep. Beep beep.
My alarm went off and i rolled over to turn it off. I opened my eyes and tried to stand up but i couldn’t, i flopped back down. I’m so tired. I picked up my phone and checked for messages or calls. I had none, but of course who would call or message at 6 in the morning? I decided i should get up and have a shower. I made my bed and yawned.
Having finished un packing my stuff last night at 10pm my room was done. I walked to my bathroom and locked the door, i stripped and stepped into the warm shower. Shampooing and conditioning my hair i stood in the shower for a minute before i got out. I moisturized my face before layering a small amount of foundation on, applied mascara and a bit of lip gloss before walking out to my wardrobe. I put on my bra, underwear, grey skinny jeans with rips, a white loose top and converses.
“Breakfast!” My dad called. He decided to make breakfast since it was my first day at a new school. I ran down and took a seat next to Jake.
“I’ll clean up” I said once everyone had finished their food. I began to stand up.
“It’s alright honey, i’ll clean up” My mum stood up and began clearing the plates.
“Thanks”
“So am i still dropping you off at school?” Jake turned to me.
“Yup” I got up and watched tv since it was only 7:30 and we had to be at school at 8:30 so that gave me half an hour because i wanted to be there early.
I thought back to yesterday afternoon when Jake told me he was in a gang. How long has he been in one for? If he’s done all those things that we know, what things has he done that we don’t know about?
“Ready?” Jake asked from behind me. I jumped a little frightened.
“Jake, you scared me!”
“Boo hoo” He rolled his eyes.
“Come on” We walked out to his car and since i haven’t got one i had to take rides with him, he was having a gap year so it was okay.
"Okay remember be careful of the gang you’ll notice them and there’s a lot of bitches” Jake spoke as i looked at myself in the small mirror. I looked fine but i wasn’t beautiful.
“And because you’re pretty you’ll be a target to the popular chicks” I looked at my brother with my brow raised even though he was meant to be looking at the road he turned to me and chuckled.
“I’m not pretty” I stated crossing my arms.
“Yeah you are, now drop it i’m your brother it’s gross talking about it”
I wrinkled my nose. “Fine”
“We’re here” In front of me sat the last high school i would ever attend, people roamed the car park and sat on the hoods of their cars.
“Great” I mumbled getting out.
“I’ll walk you in”
I began to protest when he cut me off.
“I want to see some old friends”
We walked through the gates and headed towards the office. Around me some people looked and guys checked me out to which i blushed.
“Jake!” A group of guys to my left held there hands up and grinned. I recongised them from yesterday. It was Damon, Reece, Caleb, Liam and Kyle.
“Hey man” Jake said as he reached them, he did the guy hug with them all.
“Hey Avery” They smiled. They remembered me? Impressive.
“Hey guys” I beamed a smile.
“Well of course you’ve been introduced they helped with the house yesterday aye?” Jake said.
They continued talking so i had to stand there and just look around awkwardly. I noticed this school was cliché’d. Oh joy. There was the emo and goths, hippie group? okay never seen that before, normal kids and finally the populars, which made me stop because i was standing among them. Cool.
Then the most beautiful thing happened 6 guys walked in through the gates they were all way to attractive to be possible. They started walking this way and i noticed that they must be the gang, i had the feeling. I whipped my head back around to stop myself drooling over them. Did Jake like choose only the attractive guys to be in gang?
“Who’s this shorty?” One of the guys asked when they reached us looking me up and down. I looked away.
“She’s my sister, back off Joel” Jake said putting venom in his voice. Despite the fact they he had taught them, he still hated him.
“Don’t worry, i wouldn’t waste my time on her” He answered looking at me still. What a jerk! I stood my ground and looked up at him. I looked at him in the eyes and held it there long enough to let him know he didn't faze me, before i broke off the contact and turned to Jake.
“Can we go? I don’t want to stand with this jerk anymore” I said walking away. Jake bid his goodbye’s and ran to catch up with me.
“Hey sorry about that, Joel’s a son of a-” He was cut off when i walked into someone. I looked up to see a tall, handsome, brown hair, green-eyed guy. I took a step back.
“Oh um sorry” I looked at him biting my lip. He just stared at me like i did with Joel, but this time i was caught in his eyes. Then he did a little nod and walked away.
“That's him isn’t it?” I turned to Jake as we began walking again.
“Austin? yeah, like i said be careful i don’t want him to break your heart, he is the biggest player”
We entered the office and walked to the front desk where a woman that seemed to be in her 20’s with blonde hair smiled at us.
“Hello Jake!” She greeted him. I looked at him, smirking in my mind.
“Hey Sam” He smiled back.
“This is my sister Avery, she's new here”
'Sam' turned and looked at me with a smile
“Hi Avery, I’ll grab your papers to sign and hand you your timetable” While she spoke she began looking for my papers.
“Thank you Miss...” I trailed off not knowing her name because Jake only said her first name and i didn’t want to call her Sam because i’m a student.
“Oh, please just call me Sam i’m only 21 i don’t want to sound old” She ended with a laugh.
She passed me the papers which i quickly signed and handed me my timetable. I smiled, grabbed Jake’s hand and walked outside to the car park again.
“I already feel intimidated by the gang” I rubbed my face.
“Don’t worry you’ll be fine, there’s a lot of nice people here too” He gestured to where the normal people talked.
“And besides if there’s any trouble call or message me and i’ll finish it off” He beamed a smile. I rolled my eyes as the bell rang indicating homeroom.
“See you and thanks Jake”
“Bye!” He shouted after me. I hurried to my homeroom, wanting to be the first one there. I walked in too be greeted by the teacher who was young and cute, not attractive but cute.
“Hello, i’m Mr Posely i’m guessing you’re the new girl?” He smirked and looked me up and down. Seriously what’s with that today!?
“Avery Collins and yes” He must’ve been around the same age as Sam.
“Have a seat” I was the only one in the room.
I sat in the back row to which Mr Posely stuck an eye brow up then chuckled. Huh, wonder what that was about. People began filling in looking at me briefly but when they noticed where i sat they had wide eyes. I looked around awkwardly, what’s wrong with sitting here? Then the gang walked in and started walking towards the back row. Oh that’s why everyone had a warning face. I jumped up and moved to the seat in front of me. I don’t mind being a smart ass but to one of these guys was a big no no.
“Ms Collins why don’t you stand up and introduce yourself?” Mr Posely put me in the spotlight which i hated.
I stood up slowly.
“My names Avery Collins and I’ve never stayed in one place for more than a year” As I began to sit down a boy towards the front spoke.
“Are you single?” He asked and all the guys and girls around him snickered.
“Yes” I answered sitting down.
“Wanna go out?” He asked again smirking at me.
“I wouldn’t want to waste my time” I winked at him. His smirk dropped and he faced the front again. Everyone began to laugh at my comment.
Lunch was okay, in the two periods before, i gained friends so i sat with them and chewed my apple.
“You’re really pretty, i’m surprised you’re not with the popular people” Scarlett asked me. She had blonde hair and light blue eyes she was pretty too.
“I don’t like populars, they’re all up themselves, except for Damon, Liam, Reece, Kyle and Caleb. Are they part of the popular group?” I asked.
"Yeah they are but they don't go to class, they got pulled back because of something they did" Scarlett shrugged
“It was some sort of car thing” James rolled his eyes as he looked at them.
