29 “In time? You could have explained—” Thomas stirred, and Nona’s voice broke off. He opened his eyes. He felt like parts of him had been jumbled up and tossed around, left lying helter-skelter in the wake of Nectan’s intrusion. Music filled the air. The rest of the Fey were back at their merrymaking, except for Nectan, Nona, and the Speaker. Another male Fey stood close by as well, looking down at him with wary interest. Nona knelt beside him, worry etched on her face, and behind her, Nectan gazed at him, impassive. Anger flared again at the sight of the king, and it propelled him to his feet, shaking off Nona’s restraining hand.
