41 Thomas offered to take the first watch. He was too jumpy to relax enough to fall asleep. Though they had made it safely through the shadows of the weald, he couldn’t trust his dreams. He hunched his shoulders under his cloak, poking at the fire. His gaze drifted to the line of trees across the meadow from them, but he quickly glanced away when an echo of the odd feeling that had chased him throughout those woods shivered through him.
