Gabby’s POV:
I was sitting at the dining room table eating some cereal when Jaycie walked in through the front door. As soon as her eyes landed on me, a grin slowly spread across my face. She called me, while dragging out the sound, “Heeeyyy, Gaaabbyyyyy!”. She sat across the table from me, giving me a knowing grin.
I regarded her suspiciously, “You can grin at me all you want, but I am not discussing my date with your brother with you”. She started pouting, “Why not?!”. I explained to her, “Um, if I volunteer information on my relationship with your brother, you might feel inclined to reciprocate and talk to me about Cooper. That is not happening”. Jaycie laughed. She pushed a little more, “Did it go well? You didn’t end up fighting, did you? Did you kiss? I should call him!”. She got up and tore out of the house. I love her, but she was like an excitable chihuahua. ‘Excuse me!’, Gemma yelled indignantly in my head.
I rolled my eyes and replied to my wolf, ‘Gemma what is the fuss?’. She sniffed, all insulted, “Are you seriously comparing that poor young wolf to a chihuahua? That is insulting!’. I felt a headache coming on, so I started to pinch the bridge of my nose, and took a deep breath, ‘I am not fighting about that right now. I just made an innocent observation. I did not mean any offense. And I’m sorry, but I stand by the comparison’. With that, I put up a block. Sometimes fighting with the voice in your head doesn’t mean you’re crazy, it just gives you a headache.
I heard my mom before she entered the dining room, “Was that Jaycie I heard?”. My mom starts looking around as soon as she enters, “Where did she go?”. I waved from the table and said, “Yeah, hi, mom, I am also here. Jaycie was here and then she got excited by something and rushed out again”. My mom put her hand on the counter and the other hand on her head, “That girl is going to give me whiplash one of these days”. I smirked, and humorously realized that my mother loved Jaycie as much as I did.
My mom refocused her busyness on me, saying, “How did it go last night?”. I groaned, “Am I going to hear the same question from everybody today? Is nothing private?”. Just then my father stopped into the dining room, saw me, and immediately asked, “So how did last nigh-”. I interrupted him yelling, “AAAAAAHHH!”. My mom immediately went to my father to soothe him.
With that beast satiated, my mom tried to calm me, “Sweetie, we just wanted to see how things were going because everything feels like it’s in limbo right now and some important decisions are up in the air”. She came and put a hand on my cheek, cupping it, “There’s no pressure, though, darling. You do what you feel is best. We will back up any decision you make”. I nodded, feeling assured that I had my parents’ support.
I heard my father’s deep voice rumble, “Do I get to ask anything about last night? You are my daughter, and if it helps, I am the Alpha”. Feeling grateful that my father tries to make a joke no matter what, I smiled at him. I put my hands down on the table as I decided what I would say, “Well, I can understand the need to know how last night went. Last night, Danny and I had a good time. It will be happening again, that is about as much information I am willing to give”.
My parents nodded their heads, and my father muttered, “Good enough”. I could tell he wanted to ask more questions, but he will respect my decision, and that is all I can really ask for, right? Satisfied with my answer for now, they continued on about their mornings. My mind started to wander, and I wondered if my twin was going to ask or if he knew already. Just to be clear, when we feel each other’s emotions, we do not feel the pleasure of s*x, but rather the broad strokes of emotion; happiness, sadness, joy, fear, pain. We even feel where the pain is, but that’s about it. Usually when I talk to him and tell him that something happened, he already knows because he figured it out using his skills of perceptiveness and observation in addition to feeling my emotions. Although I doubt he was here trying to discern whether I was enjoying myself (not like that, get your minds out of the gutter) or not. I think that we both have been a little too self absorbed(understandably so) to know what the other one is feeling right now.
I was going through e-mail and some social media, and I noticed a friend request from a FoxxyGirl? I looked at some of her pics and other friends and realized that this was the girl who had been talking smack about me to Danny. Is she nuts, or she thinks I’m that stupid? Maybe all of the above. Should I let Danny know of her attempt at meddling? I don’t want to seem like I am whining about her all the time. I was going to talk to Danny about transparency between us when I spoke to him next. That will be a good time to bring up Foxxy, I mean, Cindy. I turned my attention back to my phone and pressed the Delete button. I then went to my page just to make sure my profile was on Private, and it was, so I went to get ready for the day.
Cooper’s POV:
My mind is usually on Jaycie, but it quickly switched to Gabby. I wonder if she’s thinking of me. I know my mate went over to see her this morning, maybe she found out how it went. I mindlinked my little mate to see if she found out anything over there, and I didn’t get an answer. I frowned, wondering why she wasn’t answering me, as Beta Thomas walked in. “Alpha”, he greeted me. I looked up at him and nodded at him, “Thomas. Do you need anything?”. He looked awkwardly off to the side, and muttered, “Well, I was just wondering…you know…if maybe you heard…anything…”. I raised a brow and pretended not to know what he was talking about, “Heard about what?”. He realized I was playing with him and turned red because I was making him verbalize what he wanted specifically. Ignoring this, I asked, “Have you seen Jaycie? She’s not answering mindlink”. He immediately jumped into action as his eyes became unfocussed, “I will have her found within the hour, Alpha”. I waved my hand and was about to tell him to not act like it’s a federal case when he looked up quickly, “Luna has been found, Alpha. Gamma Gregory is bringing her to you right now”. My head shot up, wariness on my features, “Not by force, I hope?”. His eyes got hazy and then cleared within a few minutes, “No Alpha, she asked to come see you”.
Jaycie walked in, and I nodded at the other two, letting them both know they can take their leave. I held out my hands to Jaycie, and then pulled her onto my lap. The feeling from that simple act alone is so satisfying. She also relaxes me so much, I don’t feel whole until we come together. “How’s it going, my love?”, I cooed to her as I lazily rubbed the skin of her thigh, following patterns my mind made.
She giggled, and pecked me on the cheek. She looked down and back up at me shyly from behind her lashes, “ I was talking to Danny on my cell. Your sister wasn’t very forthcoming with details on their date, so I called him after I spoke to her”. Cooper’s brows shot up, and looked at her with expectation, “And?”. She shrugged, “All he would say was that he had a nice time and they will be seeing more of each other. That’s about the extent of it”. He squeezed both arms around her tighter, and laid his head on her shoulder. She absentmindedly brought her hand up and started to play with and run her fingers through all that silky hair. After a few minutes of both of them feeling there was nowhere else they would rather be, they were interrupted by a knock on the door.
Jaycie moved to jump off his lap but he pulled her back, and said, “Come in”, loud enough for the person on the other side of the door to hear. Beta Thomas entered and his eyes became unfocused. He communicated with Cooper through mindlink so he would not scare the Luna, ‘Alpha, there has been a report of rogues near the border. They were able to kill one, but the rest ran off. The patrol guys thought it looked like they were testing the boundaries or our defenses’. Cooper was quiet for a moment and turned to Jaycie, “Baby, I need some time with my people. I will talk to you about it later, okay?”. Jaycie leaned over and gave him a kiss on the lips, “I will see you later, love”, and with that she left the room.
Cooper turned to Thomas and stated gravely, “Call Gamma Gregory and Delta Desmond. Tell them to standby. I’ll ask my father and ask him what he needs”.
