Jaycie's POV:
I cannot believe I had to sit next to that airheaded slut! I am usually more understanding and less judging, but I had to listen to Cindy's high scratchy voice flirt with my brother, watch her touching him constantly, and witness her wardrobe malfunctions. By the time we got there, even I was watching her cleavage bounce just out of amazement. I was mesmerized; the flesh in her push-up bra just jiggling in a state of suspension. As I got out of the car, I walked ahead, not even waiting for a bodyguard, who pulled up in the car behind us. I had to stop walking to wait for a throng of bodies to shift so I could get through. I heard hurried footsteps behind me and heard a familiar voice say, "Miss Jaycie, you should have waited for me. Something bad could have happened". I didn't even have to look over my shoulder, I could see her small muscled body all tense, and a stern look on her face with eyes constantly sweeping over the crowds of people for any threat.
"I knew you'd catch up. You are one of the faster wolves in our pack", I said, with a sense of pride. I really admired her: Marnie was fast and tough despite her short stature of 5'3". She was a beast on the training field and a gazelle on the track. Her wolf is small but can tear a rogue twice the size of hers apart.
I start sniffing the air and detect a smell of fresh rain and pine. It is so strong. I should have known. My wolf, Kimber had been restless all day. She was now jumping around yelling, "Mate! Go find mate!". I turned to Marnie and said, "I'm going to speed up to see the source of that smell. Keep up". I heard Marnie chuckle behind me at the notion of her not being able to keep up with me. I ignored her and kept going. The smell was getting stronger the farther I got into the party. I got to a group of girls who were complimenting each other on their heavy makeup and skimpy clothes. It reminded me a little of the huddles in which football teams are often seen. They must be trying to glean the other girls' game plans. Who was going for an Alpha or Beta and so on. These girls should seriously just wait for their true mates instead of trying to bag a ranked wolf. But no, they go after wolves that belong to other she-wolves. It makes me sick, but I digress. While I was waiting for the stripper convention in front of me to dissipate a little, Marnie said, "Miss Jaycie, what is it? Do you sense any danger?". I shook my head and said, "No, Kimber thinks we smell our mate".
As soon as I finished speaking, the I-want-to-be-a-p********e barbie brigade cleared a bit as they went to go see who could seduce the highest-ranked wolf for the evening, I saw him. Our eyes locked, and just as he was about to come over to me, one of the barbies tried to waylay him with her non-existent clothes. She put her hand up to his chest and smiled. He never even broke eye contact with me. I came up to them and he and I both said, "Mate" at the same time. The barbie's face filled with disappointment, and I removed her hand from his chest and bid her goodbye. Before that she-wolf could even say anything to me, Marnie had come up and was expertly escorting her away from us.
It's cliche, I know, but I felt like I was walking on a cloud as I took his offered arm and we started walking towards the rear gardens of the venue with Marnie following behind us at a discreet distance along with his bodyguard.
We talked about anything and everything. It turns out his name is Cooper Stone, and he is the future Alpha of the Dark Moon pack. I have heard of his pack before; they are allies, and they have a strong pack. He was surprised at my quick recall of his pack's stats. Luckily for me, our future Beta, Gamma, and Delta were trying to speak about the other packs that would be there as a way of distracting themselves from Cindy's antics, and the Dark Moon pack was the last one they discussed. He said I would be the perfect Luna for his pack; Beautiful and smart. I couldn't help but blush at that. Kimber was purring like some damn cat in my mind.
Just then, I received a mind link from my brother, 'Jaycie, where are you? I haven't seen you since we got here. Is Marnie with you?'. I apologized to Cooper and answered back, 'I am outside in the gardens with my mate. Yes, Marnie is with me. We will come back in in a few minutes'. I closed our link and turned to say something to Cooper, but then I noticed his eyes were clouded over like he himself was on a link with someone. I waited patiently for him to turn his attention back to me. I was just so overjoyed to have found him, I would wait while staring at him. That's fine. His eyes cleared up and he said, "I figured I'd check on my twin sister, but I couldn't reach her, so I have tasked my beta to go look for her. Come, let's go inside, so I can make sure she is okay". I hope she is okay. I would hate for anything to happen to her.

Cooper's POV:
We got to the party after listening to my sister and her best friend talk dreamily about finding their mates. My mind started to drift off in the car so deeply that I didn't notice that we had stopped. After getting out of the car and opening the door for my sister and her friend, I offered my sister my arm. She looked me up and down in disbelief and scoffed then said, "What is this? Prom? I don't think so". The warriors had just pulled up in their car, and I was trying to calm myself. My sister totally disrespected me in front of people. I growled very lowly so only she would hear, and her head whipped around to me, and she looked like she was weighing options. I gave another slightly louder growl and Gabby turned and came over to me and said, "On second thought, dear brother, I would love to take you up on your offer to escort me inside. I'm sorry for my hasty answer before". I calmed and held out my arm again, and she took it. Our bodyguards positioned themselves near us and followed. Tessa was walking next to Gabby and looked very pumped for whatever she thought was going to happen tonight.
We made our way in, it wasn't too crowded yet. We made our way farther into the party and went to get a drink. Gabby and Tessa saw a dance floor and peeled away from me and the guys. We started talking about pack business and then started to break away from each other to mingle with other Alphas and ranked wolves. Alphas like to use these parties as a chance for networking. They discuss possible peace treaties, rogue threats, possible wars starting with another pack or another supernatural group.
My wolf, Caden, starts to yip. I sniffed the air and I smell strawberries and roses. The air was heavy with it. I started to walk in the direction where I felt something pulling me. It had gotten crowded since we got here. I slow down in front of a mass of scantily clad she-wolves all looking around as if they were looking for something. The crowd shifted a little and I saw the most beautiful face. I thought I was hallucinating for a minute. I started to walk towards her and I got impatient with the crowd of she-wolves and pushed out more of my Alpha aura so they could feel it and naturally dissipate on their own. While I was waiting for them to move, I felt a hand on my chest, but I could only pay attention to my mate. She walked over to me, never breaking eye contact and we both said, "Mate". As we smiled at each other, I could hear someone trying to get a girl to move out of the way. I was so thankful that someone was helping me get closer to my mate. I offered her my arm and we went out to the garden to take a walk. She was really quiet at first, but the more we talked, the more comfortable she seemed to feel. We told each other the basic identification facts of ourselves. She happens to be from an Alpha family. Her father is the Alpha and her brother is the future Alpha of the Blood Fang pack. I know of both members of the father-son duo. We have a treaty with them. I should ask her brother about keeping the treaty once our fathers step down, now that I think of it. After that fleeting thought, she got very quiet, and I notice her eyes have clouded over, so I realized she was talking to someone on link. I thought about my sister, and just wanted to check on her, but I couldn't mind link her. She must have it blocked or she is ignoring me. I call my Beta, Thomas, and ask him, 'Hey man, do you know if my sister's okay? I can't locate her and she is not answering mind link'. He came right back to tell me he doesn't see her but promises that he will find her. I tell Jaycie, and she agrees we need to go inside and see what's going on. My mate is so perfect. I hope my sister is okay. It's so weird having good and worried feelings all at the same time. We go inside, and we heard a howl in the woods behind the house where we were. Jaycie furrowed her eyebrows and said, "That's weird. That sounded a lot like Danny's wolf".
