I nodded, “Okay.” and extended my hand to hand over her ball. She accepted it but she continued explaining. “I was playing with a friend and then he suddenly ducked, and the ball flew to—” “I said that it is okay.” I told her once more, louder, and clearer now. She looked at me, puzzled as if analyzing my face if I am sarcastic or not. Worry and confusion defined her dark brown eyes, telling me that she is guilty. She seemed to take this seriously, this minor and usual accident that happens at times in the neighborhood.
