MOTHER AND SON

CHAPTER SEVEN- 7 -TRISHA- I led Prince Kinnsion and Princess Alina to their designated guest rooms, maintaining a composed and collected presence despite my own anger simmering inside. I was determined to find my foolish son. The moment I was alone, I released a low, guttural growl, my eyes flashing dangerously. That damn boy! He's completely throwing off my plans, I thought, seething as I clenched my hands into tight fists. The walls of the manor seemed to amplify the sound, sending it bouncing back at me. My skin crawled with anger barely held in check. I had to find Boris quickly before I lost my temper. I turned on my heels abruptly, heading in the direction I knew my son would likely be hiding. His bedroom. Boris always did have an unhealthy predilection for brute strength over strategy and intellect. Without me, he wouldn't have become Alpha, nor could he have attained his dream of having two wives. As I made my way towards Boris' room, the air felt thick and stifling. However, that did little to suppress the growing anger within me. I stormed into his room without knocking, my temper flaring at the sight of him lounging casually on his bed. He looked up in surprise, his eyebrows shooting up at the sight of me. "Mother," he started, standing up hastily. "I thought you were--" "Silence," I snapped, my voice echoing ominously off the grand stone walls. Boris recoiled slightly, surprise flashing across his rugged features before quickly being replaced by a mask of bravado. "Boris," I began, my voice unnaturally calm despite the rage simmering just beneath the surface. "Do you understand the gravity of your actions today? When you slighted Prince Kinnsion and Princess Alina, you slighted their kingdom. Their people." He looked at me, his face void of any understanding. I could see the gears turning in his head, trying to comprehend the depth of my words. "But…" he paused, looking confused. "I thought you hated the Lycans." "Of course I hate the Lycans, Boris," I said sternly. "But that doesn't mean we can afford to make them our enemies yet. Do you not remember the plan?" "But mother," Boris clenched his fists, his anger evident. "They were the ones who started it! That girl was rude the entire time, and that prince is insufferably arrogant!" I glared at him, immense frustration welling up within me. "It is politics, Boris," I growled, my voice a chilling whisper. "It doesn't matter who started it. It matters who ends it." "But they--" "Enough," I interrupted, raising a hand to silence him. "Do you recall the plan? Will you jeopardize everything I've meticulously arranged just because you're being immature?" His eyes flashed with defiance, his lips pressed into a tight line. "I am not being immature. I am the Alpha and I deserve respect." "Respect isn't given, Boris, it's earned!" My words echoed around the room, the intensity of my fury reverberating off the walls. Boris flinched, startled by my sudden outburst. It was rare for me to let my emotions get the better of me. "You gain respect not with arrogance or insolence, but with wisdom and diplomacy!" Boris's jaw clenched at my words, his eyes glinting as he wrestled with his anger. But beneath all that anger, I saw a flicker of defiance. This boy will be as worthless as his father. If things continue like this, Wilhelmina will surely take everything from him, just as I did with my own husband, I thought. The silence in the room was heavy. "Boris," I softened my tone, trying a different approach. "Consider how your actions will affect your reputation. The pack will soon lead on your own. They admire and trust you, so it is crucial to lead them with both strength and wisdom. Do not be like your father." Boris swallowed, his gaze darting away from me. "I'm not him," he muttered, almost to himself than to me. "I hope you're right," I said. For all my sternness and uncompromising attitude, Boris was still my son. My main concern was that someone else would use their cunning ways to take everything away from him. I had done the same to his father. I had dedicated my entire life to climbing the ranks of power and I wasn't about to let my immature son jeopardize all of it. "You must remember the plan for the prince and princess," I continued, taking a step towards him. "Prince Kinnsion will fall for Eris's charms, while Princess Alina will be captivated by Hiro's seduction." Boris uncrossed his arms, a look of contemplation settled on his features. "And if they do not fall for Eris and Hiro?" "Then we use the love potion to make them fall," I replied, a shadow of a smirk playing on my lips. "It's our last resort, of course, but it does ensure success." Boris nodded slowly. I saw a flicker of understanding light up his eyes. Good, he was starting to grasp the gravity of the situation. "Just remember, Boris," I reminded him, "the potion should only be used as a last resort. It's incredibly potent...and against the rules." "Do you think I could give it to Wilhelmina and Severa?" he inquired. I couldn't suppress my laugh. The thought of Wilhelmina and Severa succumbing to the dictates of our love potion was amusingly terrifying. I couldn't help but imagine the stern Wilhelmina suddenly swooning over Boris like a giddy schoolgirl. And the thought of Severa fawning over Boris was equally absurd. Quickly, I regained my composure in an effort to keep the seriousness of the situation intact. "If there is some leftover," I said, once my laughter had subsided. "That is a brilliant suggestion. It would guarantee that Wilhelmina or Severa would never attempt to usurp your position." Boris nodded with a smile. "Now, prepare for dinner tonight," I added, my voice serious once again. "Tonight, we will have dinner with Prince Kinnsion and Princess Alina. And you will be offering them a sincere apology for your previous rude behavior." "Fine." Boris huffed. "And it will be sincere," I added, my voice cutting through the air as I walked to the door. "Do not disappoint me, Boris." Boris merely grunted in response, his eyes lowered. I paused at the door, eyeing him one last time. His youthful arrogance always interfered with my carefully thought out strategies, but it would ultimately lead to his downfall.
