Chapter 4

1350 Words
“ Boss, she's not going home," Lorenzo reported, and I furrowed my brows in confusion. “ Where's she headed?" I asked, picking up my other phone to call someone. “ 5th Avenue Boss, do you know anyone who lives there?" Mrs Valentina, Valerie's former Nanny and the family's former nurse, got married but divorced for very promiscuous reasons. Valerie would definitely head over there to be comforted. “Boss!" Lorenzo voiced out, and I remembered that we were still on a call. “Her former Nanny lives there. Just send the marks team" I ordered and, without wasting time, cut the call. My hands went to my head in a reflex motion, I was so exhausted. Valentina James(divorced) was quite surprised and taken aback when Valerie showed up at her front door at that time of the night unannounced and alone. From her posture and movement, Valentina was quite sure something had happened to make Valerie appear so dull and distraught. When she had opened the door, she didn't even have time to ask questions or show surprise as Valerie hugged her so tight and Valentina felt a wet patch on her shoulder. It had been a long while since the death of her parents that Valerie cried. By the time she had ushered her in and Valerie had calmed down, she began with the questions. “ They betrayed me, aunt Valentina, they f**king betrayed me,” Valerie burst out even before Valentina had begun. “ Calm down Val, who betrayed you?" Valentina asked, handing her a cup of orange juice. “Alex and Enzo," Valerie blurted out and Valentina looked up at her in surprise. “ Did something happen to them? Valentina asked in utter confusion. " They had a business deal with Franz Kaiser, f**king Kaiser," Valerie snapped, leaving poor Valentina confused. “ You said ‘had’ which means they do not anymore,” Valentina submerged. " They knew about my past, and they decided to do this?” Valerie yelled and the cup she was holding almost fell, but she hardly gripped it. “Valerie, come here," Valentina called softly in a time that calmed Valerie down, and she went over to her and Valerie lay down, her head on Valentine's laps as Valentina stroked her hair. “ Valerie, if there is one thing you must know, it is the fact that Alexander Martini is a Mafia Boss, a powerful one at that, and he must have enemies, a lot of them. I haven't been with Mafia bosses that much, but I have read about them and from what I know, a Mafia boss can't exist on his own without alliances. Alexander needed alliances, powerful alliances such as Franz Kaiser. Everyone knows Franz Kaiser's brutality and has heard of his cruelty in dealing with his men and everyone fears him just as they fear Alex. Do you know what the two mafia empires would gain from each other? The cartels, the casinos, the exchanges, the shipments, the billions and so on. So you don't have to blame Alexander, he for one knows what he's doing.” By the time Valentine's voice droned out, Valerie's soft snores took over and Valentina had to struggle to stop herself from laughing. The doorbell rang, it was no surprise to Valentina when she opened the front door of her house and met the most powerful and dangerous Mafia Boss outside. Lorenzo was standing by his right as usual, looking sharp and intimidating as well. “ Good morning Valentina, I believe you have what we seek?” Lorenzo for you, always straight to the point. " Yes, and I don't think she would want to see you guys right now," Valentina said, ushering them inside. " Let that be our problem Valentina, where is she?" Lorenzo suggested in an intimidating voice. Meanwhile, Alexander was unusually quiet. “ She is right here” Everyone's attention turned to the stairs where Valerie stood on a flight of stairs, a cold gaze fixed on the duo. “ Val" Lorenzo called out about walking towards her, but Alexander held him back. “ We came to know how you were doing, and Valentina had already told us, we just wanted to confirm. We will be on our way now,” Alexander spoke up for the very first time. He gave Valerie one last stare, gave Valentina another, and he walked out of the house. Valerie and Valentina exchanged eye contact, both turning to Lorenzo, who shrugged before walking out with his boss. “ Boss, I do not understand, why di…….” " Will you shut the f**k up and get in the car?” Alexander snapped. Lorenzo always hated it when his boss was like this. He shrugged before getting into the front passenger seat as the driver drove off. Lorenzo couldn't help but wonder why the boss looked so pissed off when he saw Valerie. I mean he was pissed off when she left the villa, but then he was still angry even when he had seen her?. “Fill me in on my schedule for today," Alexander said out of the blues. " We don't have one planned-out boss,” Lorenzo tried, explaining that and if not for the fact that they were in a moving car, Lorenzo would have been hospitalized already. And Lorenzo was grateful for the moving car. “ You don't have a schedule planned out? Are you f**king kidding me?” Alexander yelled, catching Lorenzo by surprise, his jaws gritted in rage that Lorenzo couldn't surmise why. " Take me to Gary's Casino. He promised to make his payments last week and I haven't seen any,” Alexander ordered, and the driver nodded before driving off, leaving Lorenzo grateful for the moving car again. ********** Valentina’s House ********* “ Aunt, Valentina, did you see what just happened?” Valerie asked Valentina, who kept on pacing up and down. “ Obviously I did, Valerie. I don't understand, what's wrong with Alexander?” Valentina asked, this time staring hard at Valerie. “Why would you be asking me that? I didn't sleep in the villa but one thing I am quite sure of is, that person isn't the Alexander I know." Valerie tried convincing herself, but she knew he was the one. Alexander Martini in a different aura, a more dangerous one. She had to tread carefully so as not to step hard on the tail of the lion. 4 dark-colored tinted SUVs drove into the parking lot of Gary's casino and different men in Black jumped down. The doors to the second one opened, and Alexander Martini stepped down. All the surrounding men could testify that there was a dangerous aura around him. The doors to Gary's casino were flung open and everywhere became silent as everyone's eyes turned to the door where the almighty Alexander Martini stood shielded from all sides by his men. Alexander looked around for his target and saw him standing talking to another guy definitely, he was aware of his presence but pretended not to be. Alexander took out his Glock from its fancy holster and fired straight ahead, the bullet sunk deep into the skull of the man Gary was talking to. The casino was in chaos in seconds as everyone rushed to flee but Alexander and his men stood by the door. “ B.Bo...Good m.. morning Boss” Gary stuttered. He dared not look at Alexander's face. “ Gary, where's my money?" Alexander asked, putting his Glock back into the holster. “ I don't have it boss, the Germans. They raided this place yesterday, they took everything. I am running this place on my f**king personal money,” Gary explained, his two hands knitted in supplication as his knees almost touched the ground while Alexander just smirked. " Germans huh? It's that how far you are willing to lie just to keep my money?” Alexander asked, just to be sure of what he heard. “ Yes, Germans." Everyone's eyes turned to the source of the voice, who turned out to be Franz Kaiser.
