Chapter Nine *The union*

For how long I had slept on my bed, I don't know. Gently I opened my eyes and the first person I saw was JUNIANNA, her head was on my chest and her hand holding mine.

“JUNIANNA” I called out with a frail voice.

She stretched up her head and smiled at me and said.

“You did open your eyes”

She moved more closely and gave me a long kiss on my lips. The door opened and the boss entered smiling

“How are you doing boy?” He asked.

“Great sir” I answered

“Excuse us” he said to her

“Ok father” she replied as she stood up to leave.

JUNIANNA left and the boss said to me

“You know, she's been here with you ever since you lost conscious boy and I have this feeling she developed something in her heart for you”. I just smiled at him.

“like I said the door is open, if you wish son because there is no better gift you deserve from me for your loyalty than her and I also believe you are the right man“ he concluded and left the room.

At noon, I had gotten enough strength, got up from my bed and walked to the bathroom where I took a sharp shower, I got out from the bathroom and toweled my body.

Put on a blue Jean trouser and was about to have on a T-shirt when I remembered about the STS>

I searched the room thoroughly for several minutes, but to no avail. So I went out and saw a staff standing on the balcony. I called him and asked if he happens to have seen the black buttoned shirt I wore last before my wound was treated, luckily for me he was among those who has helped the bastion doctor to stitch me. He told me the black shirt was thrown into the junk bin. I ran to the junk bin yard beside the lodge, there were three large bin so I searched them hurriedly and found the STS in the last one. turning back to return home, the garbage men were coming and we greeted ourselves as I passed them. In my mind I said to myself 'that was a narrow death'.

I got into my lodge and kept the STS in secured place, then my door was knocked from the other side.

In I said.

She came in, as usual with a wide smile and sat down on a setee facing my bed.

“Can I ask you something” she said calmly

“Sure” I replied

“Do you love me?” she asked with her wide eyes gazing at mine. I didn't know how it came out from my mouth but I said

“Yes I do” for sure I really love her

but it wasn't the right time for me to fall in love, it could jeopardize the mission. But it was just beyond my control.

“Will you make me yours” she asked again.

I paused for a moment and then the word came out of my mouth

“Yes I will“

At this point she gave me a long tight hug and I kissed her temple while wrapping her with my arms too.

”Sorry I forgot to tell you, father is organizing a night party for you and he asked me to inform you for preparation” she said as we detached from each other.

“Ok I will prepare soon” I said with a smile

She gave a wide one too as she exit the lodge.

It was 2200hrs >, I dressed up smartly and walked to the boss's palace, it was filled with guests.

Many happen to be illegitimate business owners and drug lords.

“aiy come here my boy!” the boss said. I walked straight to him and he gave me a hug as he laugh out loud.

Soon the gathering was silent as we all looked at the damsel as she walked down from her chamber, she was the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. As she came down, her dad held her hands and escorted her to the guest floor,putting on a graceful smile.

“Come here boy!” the boss said and I walked in the direction of the duo.

“Ladies and gentlemen, big thanks to you all for gracing my invitation,

Today I won't be alive, standing here with you all. Appreciations to the young man here, who came into my life first by saving my daughter and then stood by me when I was let down. He as just shown his loyalty and today I shall give him his dues”

my boss said with a big smile on his face.

“ I hereby propose my daughter to be your wife, what you say?” he asked

Meanwhile JUNIANNA was smiling at me and waiting for my say on her father's proposal. I just couldn't think at that moment about anything but her

“Yes I accept your proposal” I said smiling back at her.

The party lasted for several hours and I was so drunk that some men had to escort me to my lodge . I woke up the next day uncomfortable. I just accepted a marriage proposal from someone I was sent to get evidence from. For easy hunt down on him, what am I doing?. I asked myself as I went deep in thought.

It was 8000hrs I contacted with the agency and I was told to return the STS>.
