Betrayed by the Alpha's Son

CHAPTER FIVE

My heart melted when I saw my mother and Lisa lying in a pool of blood. I felt my throat closing up, as I bent forward and sat on the floor, pressing my palms on the mat, as I cried, staring at my mother and Lisa. My mother had deep cuts all over her hands and chest, and Lisa had bruises on her neck and deep cuts on her chest too.

I could not help but think all that happened was my fault. If I had not forgotten to take the note to her, they probably wouldn’t have been in that position. My poor mother and best friend must have struggled to try to protect themselves and escape. And I wasn’t there to protect them.

I cursed and blamed myself for my mother's and Lisa’s death. As I was moaning my mother and Lisa’s death, I saw a piece of paper placed on the toilet cover. I took it and turned it over. Only to see words written in blood, saying

“if you want to see me, you will find me at longaces play park”.

The rage flowed inside of me like lave, and it made me turn to beast mode. My eyeballs rolled and turned white, I was burning with rage. I was floating in mid-air and my hair was blown up. I don’t know how, but I opened a portal that led to longaces where I was supposed to meet the killer.

I went through it and I was at longaces. My demon senses were so strong that I immediately sensed the killer’s presence and where he hid.

“I knew you would come like this, you are exactly like your father. He also had anger issues”. A man in a black coat and hat said.

“Why don’t you step forward and show yourself"? I yelled with rage.

Longaces play park was a lovely place during the day where people would have a good time. But in the night, no one wanted to be there. Because people believed it was haunted, every night mystical beings would go there, That was, according to Lusaka city people.

It was a dark place with no lights, and he stood by the corner. I could tell someone was there, but couldn’t describe who it was. The man in a black coat went on to say,

“You know what would be my greatest achievement, it’s for you to die along with your father. I would very much enjoy that”, He said

“Why did you kill my mother? And who are you?” I asked as I clenched my demon fist.

“Well, think of me as a man who is going to end your life, just like I did to your mother and father. Where are my manners, let me properly introduce myself”, I am the alpha. Does it ring a bell?. “ He asked.

“That made me very upset that I threw fireballs at him. And at that moment I was having flashing images of my mother. It made me even more upset, I continued throwing fireballs at him.

Then all of a sudden His bones began breaking and reshaping, flesh-ripping away, gaining mass instantly, while doubling and tripling his body size in seconds. As his teeth began falling to be replaced by fangs and carnassial, I looked away. But I was thankful for doing that. I turned back to him and his mouth elongating, as his nose grew out to form a snout and whiskers grew where none had been. Heavy fur covered his body making him look like a mutant black dog. His eyes were now yellow and his voice turned husky as he screamed louder.

I once more threw a fireball at him, then he ducked. As I tried to shoot a fireball again, he scratched my face leaving me with scars on my left cheek. I fell to the ground. because I didn’t know how to take full control of my powers, after being hit and thrown to the ground, I just couldn’t get up.

He later turned back into his human form after noticing that I was weak and could not get the chance to stand on my two feet.

“Luna, bring out the Orb”, he shouted.

One of the werewolves brought the Orb. It was used to drain the powers of a demon out and it has been used for many centuries now.

“You and your father make it so easy to win. I remember the day I defeated your father, he looked helpless, just like you do right now. The time I’ve been waiting for has finally arrived”.

He held the Orb and aimed it at my head while I watched everything take place. He activated the Orb and slowly drained my powers while laughing.

Suddenly a werewolf came and hit the alpha’s hand causing him to drop the Orb to the ground. The werewolf that came out from nowhere came to my rescue and somehow managed to get me out of there. I still don’t know how he managed to help me till today. I had lost consciousness so I do not remember what happened.

I saw my mother calling out to me, and saying she was waiting for me to return home. I saw her prepare a lot of food for me, all of my favorites.

I immediately ran and hugged her, she smiled and asked me to take a sit so that she could serve me dinner. She went to the kitchen to grab my food, but to my surprise, she took so long to come back to the dining room. I called out to her but she didn’t respond. I decided to go and take a look at what was happening but I didn’t find her. I began to panic calling out to her then, I saw her standing outside.

As I walked towards her a man drove right past our block pointing a gun at my mother. I ran screaming, duck mom, duck, she turned around and the man fired the gun.

Upon the man shooting at my mother, I woke up screaming move mom while crying, I found myself in the same place l was before I got to my mother, laying In the same bed. As I looked around I saw James right next to me, he moved and sat on the bed, where I was laying on.

I had no words to say it all seemed fake to me. My head was spinning, I had mixed emotions. “How did I get here”?. I asked.

“That does not matter, what you have to worry about is your well-being, he said.

“ please tell me it was a dream, is my mother dead?” I asked while wiping out my tears.

And James replied

"I wish I could Lukundo" At that point, James hugged me and I cried in his arms knowing very well that I had lost the most important people in my life.

And I continued to blame myself because I put both my mother and best friend in that state and I couldn’t even be there to protect my poor mother. They are both gone, just like that, now I’m all alone in this cruel world.

James told me that he would never leave me alone, that he would always be by my side through it all, and he would protect me no matter what.

After hours of crying I finally fell asleep, and so did James The following morning I woke up in James’s arms once more, if I wasn’t moaning about my mother and best friend’s death I would have been the happiest. But I was in so much pain I did not even think about it like that. As I got out of bed, I saw a pack of cigarettes laying on the table and some matches. Well, what can I say, sometimes when I’m stressed and all I would hide in the backyard and smoke my lungs out and occasionally drink. I went on and grabbed the matches and cigarettes from the table and went outside, directly to the backyard.

The backyard was really beautiful, it had green grass, a really big tree, pretty flowers, and a swing set. Some would even say that backyard brought peace into people’s lives. I went and sat on the swing and lit up my cigarette and began to smoke. As I was smoking, all I could think of was my mother, how she woke me up every day to go to prepare myself for school and she would make my breakfast. She never wanted me to be sad, she always did her level best to make sure I’m always happy, well, my best friend did the same too, she was always looking out for me.

I couldn’t handle all the pain and I couldn’t believe at some point that she was gone. I began to ask myself, what the point of living was. Tears rolled from my eyes, causing me to throw away the cigarette, I thought it would help me in my difficult situation, but it didn’t unfortunately.

All I wanted was to die, I looked around and saw a long string laying on the ground, I got up and reached out for it. At that point, I just wanted to end my life.

I walked towards the big tree and got a rock that was next to the swing and placed it under the tree. I stepped on it and tied the rope around it. Then I looked at the house in which James was sleeping and said “I’m sorry James, but I can’t take it anymore” I placed the rope around my neck and tied it as firm as I possibly could, then I pushed the rock I stood on using my legs and chocked myself.
