Fake Princess

Kyle’s eyes narrowed as he studied Lyra, his expression one of cold amusement. He raised his sword, the blade glinting in the firelight as he pressed it under her chin, forcing her to tilt her head up to meet his gaze. “She’s not as beautiful as I imagined,” he mused, his voice laced with disdain. “But she’s manageable. She could be one of my women.” “No!” Diana cried, her voice breaking as she reached out towards Lyra. “Please, don’t do this!. Just kill me!!” Lyra’s eyes filled with tears as she looked back at Diana. “It’s okay,” she said softly. “It’s okay.” Kyle’s expression shifted to one of curiosity, clearly intrigued by this display of self-sacrifice. He lowered his sword slightly, his gaze flicking between Lyra and Diana with a calculating glint. “Why would you do that?” he asked, his voice cold. “Why would you sacrifice yourself for her?” Before Kyle could utter another word, Diana made her move. She stepped forward, her eyes filled with a fierce resolve as she placed herself between Lyra and Kyle. “Because she is worth more than my life,” Diana said, her voice steady and strong. “I would give anything to protect her.” Kyle’s eyes narrowed, a flicker of confusion crossing his features as he studied Diana. “You would die for her?” he asked, his tone disbelieving. Diana nodded, her hand tightening on the hilt of her sword as she met Kyle’s gaze without flinching. “Yes, I would.” Kyle’s expression darkened, his eyes cold and unforgiving as he stepped closer to Diana. “Then die,” he hissed, his voice laced with venom. Before Diana could react, Kyle’s sword flashed out, the blade slicing through the air with deadly precision. Diana gasped as the cold steel bit into her neck, the pain sharp and overwhelming. Her vision blurred, and she felt her strength draining away, but she remained standing, her gaze locked on Lyra. “Run,” Diana whispered, her voice barely audible as she took a step back, her hand falling away from her wound. “Run, and don’t look back.” Lyra screamed, the sound raw and filled with grief as she watched the Luna collapse to the ground, blood pooling beneath her. She fell to her knees beside Diana, her hands trembling as she reached out to touch her, to try to save her, but it was too late. Diana’s eyes fluttered closed, a soft smile on her lips as she took her last breath. Her sacrifice had been made, and now all she could do was hope that Lyra would survive, and her daughter would find a way to escape this nightmare. Kyle watched with a detached amusement, his gaze cold as he observed the scene before him. “How touching,” he said, his voice mocking. Lyra’s sobs filled the air, her heart breaking as she cradled her Luna’s lifeless body in her arms. The world around her seemed to fade, leaving only the pain of loss and the cold reality that there was nothing she could do. With that, Kyle turned, signaling his men to continue their search. The Silver Crescent Pack was falling, and its people would either submit to his rule or be wiped out entirely. As Kyle’s warriors spread out, searching for the rest of the pack members, Lyra remained where she was, her heart hollowed out by grief. The night that had started with such hope had ended in darkness, and she could only pray that, somehow, Alina would escape the fate that had befallen the rest of her family. The village of the Silver Crescent Pack lay in ruins, the aftermath of the brutal attack evident in every corner. Smoke still lingered in the air, rising from the charred remains of homes and buildings, while the ground was littered with the bodies of the fallen. The few survivors who remained were rounded up, their hands bound, their faces marked with defeat and despair. Alina had run as fast as she could, her heart pounding in her chest, her mind racing with the terror of what had happened. She had reached the edge of the forest, the boundary of her pack’s territory, when they caught her. Alpha Kyle’s soldiers, ruthless and efficient, had surrounded her, blocking every path of escape. There was no way out. They dragged her back to the village, her wrists bound with rough ropes that cut into her skin. She stumbled as they pushed her forward, her legs trembling with exhaustion and fear. The sight that greeted her when she was forced back into the village square was worse than any nightmare she could have imagined. The survivors, those who had not been slaughtered, were gathered together, chained and shackled like cattles. And there, among them, was Lyra. Her friend was in chains, her head bowed, her face streaked with tears and soot. Alina’s heart ached at the sight, the guilt and sorrow almost too much to bear. Lyra looked up as Alina was brought forward, and their eyes met. There was a flicker of something in Lyra’s gaze, relief, and sorrow. “Alina,” Lyra whispered as Alina was shoved to the ground beside her. The soldiers yanked on her chains, forcing her to her knees, the rough stone biting into her skin. Lyra’s voice was hoarse, her body trembling with exhaustion. “They… they killed your parents.” Alina felt the world tilt, her breath catching in her throat. She turned her head, searching the village square for the familiar faces of her parents. And there they were, lying lifeless on the ground, their bodies covered in blood, their eyes empty and staring at nothing. A choked sob escaped her lips, the pain too much to contain. It felt as if her heart had been ripped from her chest, leaving a gaping wound that could never be healed. The tears flowed freely, blurring her vision as she struggled to process the horror before her. “They gave their lives to protect us,” Lyra continued, her voice breaking with the weight of the truth. “I pretended to be you, to buy you time. I didn’t know you would get caught too.” Alina’s mind reeled, the realization crashing over her like a tidal wave. Her parents had sacrificed everything for her, for her survival, for the hope that she might live to see another day. And now, they were gone, and she was chained like an animal, a prisoner in her own home.
