IVANA 'S POV
Few weeks was gone after my mother’s new announcement . Though I attempted to go about my life as usual, I couldn't stop thinking about the forthcoming changes. I kept obsessing over it.
That day at last arrived when my mother informed me she was getting married. There would only be a signing of the documents, not a wedding. Listening to her talk about the approaching changes made me numb. I felt helpless to stop the knowledge that my life was about to be inverted.
I went to the convenience store, I attempted to concentrate on my duties. But my head kept deviating to the thought of my mother's forthcoming marriage. I was on edge and I couldn't get the uncomfortable feeling away. I couldn’t seem to pull it together and was making blunders. Pulling me aside, my manager inquired whether I was okay. I lied that everything was good. Deep down, though, I knew that nothing was quite right.
My supervisor was always berating me and seemed especially interested in my errors that day. I attempted to tell him I was simply having a bad day, but he seemed unconvinced. I wanted to flee, I felt as though I was under a microscope. Knowing I needed the work, I pushed myself to concentrate . I only had to get through the day free from more blunders.
Though I assumed my shift was ended, my boss summoned me into his office. My gut started to drop, and I realised I was about to have a tough conversation.
"I've had enough of your mistakes today," my supervisor remarked, staring me squarely. What is your problem ?He wasn't buying it when I attempted to say I was just having a bad day. He warned me I would be searching for a new job if I didn't start gathering myself. I tried to explain once more as I felt panic starting in my chest. To offset my terrible performance, I chose to act drastically. To atone for the errors I had made, I asked my supervisor whether I might work an additional shift. Though I knew the day would be long, I was ready to do whatever i needed to right things.
To my astonishment, my manager granted my request Knowing that I will have the opportunity to correct my wrongs. I also knew, though, that today would be a very long one. I simply hoped I could get through without making any more blunders. The second shift amounted to a trial by fire. Customers were so demanding and I found it difficult to keep up. Though I was feeling anything but melancholy, I made myself smile and be polite. I kept wondering about how badly I needed this job and how I couldn’t afford to keep making blunders.
I persisted and the hours passed. At last the shift was complete. Though tired, I made it. Knowing that I had survived a somewhat trying day made me feel proud.
The door opened as I was about to turn.Expecting to meet another customer. I turned around and instead spotted the stalker from before. My hands began freezing and my heart started to speed. Though I knew I had to keep cool, I couldn't help but get terrified. The stalker came up to me,I attempted to seem businesslike.
“Welcome, how may I assist you”? Trying to keep my voice calm, I asked.
He grinned, and my blood turned icy. "I'm just here to chat, you seem like an interesting person."
My will began to waver, and I tried to keep my ground. "I'm not interested," I insisted. " kindly leave me alone."
Still, he remained unconcerned. "I think you're beautiful," his voice was subdued and sensual. "I understand you want me badly."
An explosion of disgust swept over me. "I do not want you!" I cried, my voice trembling with wrath. "And I have no desire in playing dumb games with you. Leave me alone, else, I will contact the cops."
The stalker seemed to be savouring his authority over me, and he was not going to give up that lightly. He asked me to ring a couple things he selected. Wanting to get him out of the store right away, I grudgingly cooperated.
He reached into his pocket and simply pulled out his cash to pay for his goods as I was finishing off ringing them. Though I know he wasn't finished yet, I felt relief.
I stumbled across the stalker's foot as I turned to go. He had extended his leg purposefully, and I fell to the ground. As I tipped over a display of delicate objects, they broke on the ground and I watched in terror.
Shocked, I could feel the surge of adrenaline running through me.Looking up at the stalker, he was beaming. "Oops, sorry my bad," he said, cynicism tumbling from his voice. Knowing he had done it knowingly , I felt my rage mounting.
My manager emerged from the rear room as soon as the stalker left the shop. He was breathing heavily and had red, angry face. His voice booming, he asked, "What on earth just happened?"
I felt my legs wobbling and weak to stand. "I'm so sorry," I stuttered. "I didn't meant to do that."
My manager was enraged, and I sensed he was about lose his cool. "You would not collect your pending money, you are fired. I cannot tolerate you any more.
