Aria didn't look back.
Her heels clicked against the marble floor as she walked out of the gala. Head high. Back straight. Like nothing happened.
But inside, her heart was pounding.
"Aria! Wait!"
That voice.
Aria stopped but didn't turn around. She knew it was him.
Damian walked fast until he was in front of her. Blocking her way.
"Let me explain," Damian said. He looked desperate.
Aria laughed. But it wasn't a happy laugh. "Explain? After 3 years?"
"Please," Damian said. "Just 5 minutes."
Aria crossed her arms. "You had 3 years to explain. You chose silence."
Damian stepped closer. "I was stupid. I was angry. I thought—"
"You thought I was after your money," Aria finished for him. "I remember."
The parking lot was quiet. Only the sound of cars passing by.
Damian's eyes were red. "Can I at least see her? Emma?"
Aria's chest tightened. But she didn't show it.
"No," Aria said coldly. "You're not part of her life."
She walked around him. But Damian grabbed her wrist gently.
"Then let me be part of it now," Damian whispered. "Please. Come home with me. Let's talk."
Aria pulled her hand away. "My home is not with you, Mr. Reyes."
And she got into her car. Leaving Damian standing in the rain.
