Chapter 12 As they left the hospital, Ben and Susan's heads were in a vortex. They were both ruminating, each in their own way, over what the priest had told them while they headed toward their destination, without uttering a word. Ben's silence was due to his need to metabolize this new image of his father and his unknown dark side. Susan, on the other hand, kept quiet as a sign of respect for her friend, who had been subjected to a shock and needed some time and space. But while it's true that silence is golden, it's also true that a curious woman is, by nature, the best person to have on your side. It would also be appropriate to say that it's equally as difficult to find a woman who isn't dying to show off a piece of jewelry or one that can keep her mouth shut for any length of time
