“Is it about Herod and Xanna?”
I should have known that nothing about me could escape Harad's notice. Predictably, Herod has confided in his brother that he is now mated with Xanna. What was I thinking?
I let out a deep sigh, yet remained silent in response to him.
He takes my hand and intertwines our fingers on his thigh.
“Once you're ready, you can experience it all yourself,” he teased. "It's odd that Herod was able to withstand Xanna's constant temptation for such a long time as they were mates all the while. But you're so timid, it's like you're not looking forward to our mating. Are there any of my qualities that don't appeal to you, Cissy?"
