I nodded slightly, my gaze sweeping across the ballroom. Amid the crowd, Evan, looking sharp in his suit, stood at the center, surrounded by people. It seemed as though he sensed my gaze, and he turned towards me, offering a slight nod of acknowledgment.
Just then, Penny tugged at my sleeve, pointing towards the leaders' seats on the dais: "Nola, look over there—why are there four seats? Aren’t there only three leaders now—Carlos, Evan, and Sean?"
I shook my head. "Maybe the event planners made a mistake."
After my father passed away, his leader's seat was removed. I didn't expect such an oversight at such a grand banquet.
