Not wanted by him

1058 Words
After Alpha’s order the guards dragged me straight to his headquarters and we entered in some room not his. It was kinda small but it was better than his. "Was I meant to stay here now? Was he going to lock me in here?", I turned quickly to ask, but the guards had already stepped away, their boots fading down the hall. They shockingly left the door open. Open? The word barely formed in my head as I stared at the door, my chest rising and falling too fast. Why would they leave it open? I stepped forward slowly, half-expecting someone to bark an order, to shove me back inside. Nothing. The air outside the room felt colder. Every instinct screamed at me not to trust it. Maybe it was another test, just like before. He wanted to see what I’d do, whether I’d run or submit. The Alpha never did anything without purpose, and mercy was not one of them. My fingers curled against my palms as I hovered at the threshold. From where I stood, the room looked too perfect: the soft light, the made bed, the folded blanket. Everything designed to look safe, but it wasn’t. It was bait. I swallowed hard and whispered to myself, “Don’t fall for it.” Still, the open door pulled at me. Freedom. My freedom. What if this was my only chance? I took one cautious step forward, then another, the floorboards groaning under my bare feet. My heart pounded so loudly I was sure someone could hear it. I leaned slightly into the corridor and looked both ways. Empty. There was total silence. For a fleeting moment, hope sparked in my chest. And then, a low voice echoed from the shadows down the hall. “Go ahead,” it said. “If you really think you can.” My blood ran cold and my pulse raced when I heard the his footsteps reaching toward the room. I turned away from the door and looked at the blank wall in front of me. He was going to seriously kill me this time. Each step felt like a countdown, echoing through my bones until I could barely breathe. I couldn’t move. My body refused to obey me. The open door, my one chance at escape, now felt like a cruel joke. When he reached the doorway, I didn’t dare turn around. I kept my gaze at the blank wall in front of me, my fists clenched so tightly that my nails dug into my palms. “Were you planning to run?” His voice was calm ... too calm. “I—” The word caught in my throat. “No. I wasn’t.” My throat tightened as his presence invaded the room. The door slammed shut behind me. I didn't turn until a moment later. Fear ran through me as my gaze met with his. Darkness brimmed in his eyes, they were pitch black, and dull, staring through me. What was it about him? He had a face of a devil yet there was something more. I only recalled the moment at the graveyard, when he had forced me to shoot at him. Who in the right mind would want to be shot? And for what? He stepped forward, closer to me. There was less distance between us now. I tried to look away from him, but I was captured. Now, barely an inch away, he said, "Don't move." I didn't. His hand raised and moved behind my neck before his head titled. I gazed up at him through my lashes and his eyes lowered to my neck. I stilled. Every nerve in my body froze. He leaned inward, burying his face in my neck. My breaths raced while warm knots twisted in my stomach. He inhaled sharply. My thoughts reeled. The possibilities. No. It couldn't be. I closed my eyes tight while my brows furrowed at his movements. Was he going to start f*****g me tonight? And kill me quickly after giving birth?! No... The tip of his nose brushed against my neck, causing a chill to run down my spine. My body became tensed as his fingers reached for the buttons of the coat. His face moved. I caught a glimpse of the lust brimming in his eyes. For what? Me. My head tilted toward him, our lips only inches away from meeting. Fear and confusion, both, drummed in my heart. His hand reached forward to my face, brushing against my cheek. "What are you doing -" "Shh." I stilled as he drew his thumb over my lower lip. My mouth parted. Was he going to kiss me? I didn't know, but I wanted to. His thumb lingered against my lip, tracing it once and slow before he pulled his hand back then his gaze hardened. "Listen little wolf. “You’re staying here,” he spoke. “The door is going to stay unlocked. “But if I see you anywhere , anywhere near my men, near my quarters, near other pack members I will break you for it.” “You are not one of them. You don’t belong here. You are not worthy to even breathe the same air as my pack.” My throat tightened, the sting of humiliation spreading like fire beneath my skin. “So don’t test me again,” he said then he stepped away from me. I failed to say any word after listening to him. After my silence, the door creaked as he opened it. For a moment, I thought he’d look back, maybe just once. But he didn’t. The unlocked door remained open behind him. My body trembled as I stared at it, unable to decide which hurt more his cruelty, or the part of me that still wished he’d stayed. With nothing to do, I headed to the bed. My body felt lifeless as I lay sprawled across the pillow top mattress. The plush comfort of it mocked my suffering. Darkness surrounded me, thick and still, pressing against my skin like a second layer. It left me wondering why me in all werewolves?! I was surely cursed. I looked at the moon. Its crooked smile seemed to be taunting me. My eyebrows knitted in anger, resentment boiling beneath the surface. I was in pain, both physically and mentally.
