‘Rose.’ Black didn’t need Nikolai to say her name. He would recognize her scent anywhere. He carried it with him now. But this could not be. Humans could not establish a mind-link with a wolf even if they were mates.
This, too, was why it was perceived as a weak pairing. Although a mated Alpha was stronger, he could be weakened, even killed, if the Luna were killed. That was why she needed to be strong. A human, no matter how strong, would always be a weak mate for an Alpha. The lack of mind-linking between a wolf-human pair was just another thing which weakened them.
Why then did it seem like there was a faint connection between Black and Rose? If only he could open the door fully, he would be able to establish a connection and should be able to mind-link her. Black
