***Rose POV*** The heavy door swung inwards to reveal an open living area, comprising a lounge area and a kitchen. The kitchen looked homely with an oval table and four chairs in its center. The lounge was dominated by a broad stone fireplace. A single, plush, two-seater sofa stood in front of it, flanked by two deep wing-back chairs. It was a beautiful space that felt warm and welcoming. The wall opposite the front door was mostly glass and provided us with a stunning view of the lake. We were so close to the water’s edge it looked like you could jump from the deck at the back straight into the water. One of the still-unnamed guards stood on the deck, scanning his surroundings.
