‘Stay!’ Alex said silently to the four wolves who were bristling to join in the fight.
‘You better call in your reinforcements, Alex. You’re going to need it.’ Black spat, pacing before Alex like a predator about to pounce.
‘I’m not going to fight you, Alpha.’
‘The hell you are!’
‘I know you are raving right now, but the Luna needs you. She lost so much blood…’
Alex deliberately let the sentence hang in the air like bait. Black’s face immediately fell, losing all its previous ferocity. He was scared. Scared of what the consequences might be of Nikolai’s bite.
‘Is she-’
‘She’s alive. You know that. Even with your mind switched off, you would’ve felt it if she weren’t. Doc stitched her up as best he could.’
