As Rayne and Nikolai set off, their paws making very little noise on the soft sand of the beach, I could feel a sense of freedom from Rayne. It made me wonder if she had always been in the back of my mind and if I simply wasn't aware of her. If that was the case, it made sense that she would feel elated at finally being set free. I was also surprised to realize it did not at all feel strange to have an aspect of my person, of my soul, a separate entity in my mind. It just felt natural, not like a different personality, just a different part of myself.
