Mike was uncomfortable talking about what had brought him and his mate to England, even if the majority of the people in Black's office knew the story. It was partly because wolf-shifters were secretive people by nature and protective of their communities. Mostly it was because the memory of these events still seemed fresh and painful. Alina knew of her mate's discomfort and gave him reassurance through their bond. Years together have taught them how to bring each other comfort even when they could not physically touch one another. This was necessary as being Alpha had often taken Mike away from Alina. Being in charge really did come with many sacrifices.
