***Rose POV***
Anton led the way up the stairs but stopped at the door of the boardroom. His smile was warm as he stepped aside for me to enter first, but I was still wary. Conscious of Black's comments earlier, I put my feelings aside. Black placed distance between me and Anton by closely following me into the large room.
Remember what I said, Black's voice entered my mind.
I am! But being rude to a member of the Council is not wise, I replied.
Refreshments were set up at one end of the long table and Black made his way there. He pulled out a chair for me before he took the seat at the head of the table. His back was to the large windows overlooking the forest, and I was seated to his right.
"Please have a seat," I said and gestured to the chair opposite me.
