The velvet leash

Chapter 6

Helena was working when a knock on the side door sounded. She knew instantly it was not Avery she never knocked... "May I come in?" Bella cheerful voice sounded, "Yes of course" Helena replied. She smirked at the happy mood Bella was in, top two buttons of her shirt unbuttoned, as if Helena had not heard what Bella had been up to with their boss. The woman gave her a genuine smile "Avery, told me to inform you, that she will need you to work late tonight" that also brought a smile to Helena "Oh she does? Hmm I should start charging overtime" they both laughed "Oh I am sure you will be thoroughly compensated for the inconvenience" It was an odd but genuine sort of sisterhood they shared, that came from sharing Avery. It was true for all the women that worked and got involved with Avery Jones. They jokingly called themselves sister wives and sister husbands - for those guys in the same situation with Fred Jones. After the initial outsider mistrust and competition wore off. Every one was of age and everyone was willing participant fully aware of all terms and conditions regardless of the sibling they happened to work under.

Sarah Bloom was nice enough but it was, at least for now, the only one in the floor that did not share in the sisterhood. And that sort of made her the odd one out still. No one really understood how Avery had given such a high position to someone that apparently didn't appear to share the company values. The rumour mill was crazy... Had she rejected Avery? Had Avery really no interest in the woman? Was there an ulterior motive for Fred to hire her?

Did Fred made an honest mistake when he recruited her from Marley's? The man was a chauvinist and had a reputation of imposing himself to the women whom he fancied - and some rumours said even the odd man but he was way more particular in that area.

Was Sarah for real or was Miss conservative all an act? Whatever it was only time would tell.
