The heavy bass of the music thudded through the floorboards of Rooster's, vibrating up through the sleek block heels of Arabella's boots. Smoke from fog machines mixed with the heavy scent of cheap draft beer, sweet liquors, and sweat, creating a thick atmosphere that made Arabella’s enhanced immortal senses itch. Tara continued yanking Arabella toward the bar counter, ignoring the sea of drunk bodies swaying around them. But before Arabella could raise a voice in protest, her eyes locked onto a familiar pair staring right back at her through the amber haze of the hanging bar lights. "Ari?" David looked completely caught off guard, his half-drained glass of beer lifted midway to his mouth. "Y-you're here. At Rooster's."
