Chapter 2: Meeting the Alpha

"Oh! That's a real human?" "They look strange." "Humans are pretty!" "How dare you compliment a human's beauty when your mate is right here with you, Arric!" "I was only stating a fact, my dear Fenris." "You don't even say that to me! You don't tell me I'm pretty!" "'Cause that would be lying, darling." "That's it! You're sleeping outside!" Ellio has woken up from his slumber again. Noises and murmurs coming from all directions are filling up his ears. Seeing him moving and waking up, the wolves who were around him all this time, were alarmed and halted from their talking. These wolves are now in their semi-human form. They still looked human but had eyes that looked exactly like that of an animal― a wolf in particular. The colors of those pupils vary from each other and it perfectly matches with the color of their hair. Their wolf ears remained too. They were wearing medieval clothing and their faces were painted and decorated with different symbols and patterns using black ink. It was admirable and stunning to look at. But in Ellio's situation―in which he is once again put behind bars. No matter how gorgeous they look, they are still strange in his eyes. He quickly stood up and went near the wall away from the weird creatures. "W..Why are you locking me up in here?!" he screamed, scared. "Are w-we shooting a movie or s-something?! Why are y-you looking so weird in that c-costume?! And why do your ears look like that?!" The wolves looked at one another, confused as to what's wrong with their perfectly designed and pointed ears. Seeing the arrival of the guards, the wolves made a way for them to walk directly to Ellio. They opened the door of the cage and went in to pick up the human. "Hey, where are you taking m-me?!" Two guards grip both of his arms and pull him out. "I asked you! Where in hell are you taking me?!" he asked for the second time. His heart was beating so loud and the guards' silence just added up to his fear. They took the shouting and cursing Ellio to the main hall of the castle. The Alpha and guardian of the wolves, Xorran, is sitting on his throne, waiting for them. The guards dragged Ellio near him and he identified that this was the man at the wedding ceremony earlier. "Who are you? And why are you here?" Xorran asked. "I should be the one asking you that." Ellio stubbornly answers, surpassing his fear and not letting it show. "Are we filming a movie here? If we are then might as well tell me first so I know what's going on! And why are you people in that old clothes? So cheap―Agh!" Ellio winced in pain when the guards forced him to kneel down by kicking the back of his already bleeding knees. "I'm asking you once again." Xorran's voice is now full of authority and impatience. "What is a human doing here in our Dimension?" "Can someone tell me what's next on the script or should I just do freestyle?" The wolves around him went silent due to the fact that they don't know what a script nor freestyle is. Xorran has very little patience and this stubborn human made him lose it. "Human." Ellio's eyes widened in shock because in a split second, in a blink of an eye, the Alpha that was originally sitting on his throne meters away is now at his front, squatting down to his level and looking at him with those hazel eyes that resembled that of a wolf. The human was speechless. "We are not filming something you call a movie nor do we have a so-called script." Xorran tried his best to remain calm. "Stop fooling around and answer me." Those eyes were glaring at Ellio making him gulp the building lump in his throat. "Who are you, how did you get here and what's the purpose of your visit?" Xorran stared and waited for him to answer. Those eyes that held a fierce glare looking directly at him was all it takes for Ellio to wake up and realize that no one is filming a movie and that what's happening is true. "I.." he started speaking, accepting the reality that he was indeed transported into a new world. "I found a portal. I was being chased so I didn't have any choice but to enter. I don't know what happened but the portal was the one that led me here." The Alpha paused for seconds trying to filter out the lies between those words but he found none. "Can you take me back to where I came from? You can bring me back home, right? I don't want to stay in this place." Ellio couldn't believe where he is and doesn't know what's happening but he would not bother to find out as long as he can go back home and attend his wedding. "I can't," Xorran answered. "What?" Ellio heard it right but he can't seem to comprehend and accept it. "W-What do you mean you can't?" "The portal is closed." Ellio's brows knitted. "B-But I came from there! How is it closed?!" Xorran stood up and coldly answered. "I don't have the answers for you 'cause I am confused as well." "You're kidding, right?!" Ellio started to panic. "How can you not know?! I can't stay at this place any longer! I have a family waiting for me back home!" "You should've thought of them before deciding to come here." Xorran responded with a cold tone before turning his back. "I never wanted to come here! It was an accident and you need to send me back!" Ellio stood up and gripped his arms. The guards were alarmed and were about to drag the human away from their Alpha but Xorran secretly motioned them not to. "It was your mistake to recklessly step foot in that portal and now you will suffer from that decision of yours." Xorran removed the human's hand on his arm. "You obviously know how to send me back! You're lying and you just want me trapped in this hell!" His home being called a hell by a completely naive human being made Xorran's sleeping anger to wake once again. He grabbed Ellio by the collar and pulled him close with a clenching jaw. His other hand flew in the air, threatening to punch the human "Who are you to call my dimension a he- "XORRAN!" But before his fist could ever land on Ellio's waiting face, a voice coming from a woman echoed through the main hall. Ellio, who previously had his eyes closed, ready to be punched, caught sight of a beautiful wolf in her semi-human form. Ellio couldn't believe his eyes and stared at the wolf's mezmerizing features as she walks towards their direction. The lady wolf was accompanied by another man. "What are you doing?" The lady was clearly pissed but her voice remained elegant and soft as she stood up for Ellio. "This human being is making my blood boil, Kerry," Xorran said, removing his hands harshly from Ellio's collar. It caused the human to slightly lose balance. "This young man has told the truth. You can ask Pawn for confirmation." Kerry said pertaining to the man he was with. Pawn is Xorran's right hand. A black wolf that has the ability to detect lies. "He is just afraid of us, Xorran. The same way our species are feeling towards him as well. Our world is far different from his so you should understand." Ellio was mesmerized by Kerry's kind words with her gentle tone. "We need to find a way to send him back as soon as possible before everything gets worse." Xorran took a deep breath before simply nodding. Ellio couldn't believe that this wild wolf turned into an obedient dog in front of this gorgeous lady. "I'll take him to my quarters for now." Kerry faces Ellio and smiles. "Come with me." She then pulls him by the wrist and walks out of the main hall leaving behind the two gentlemen. He knows he shouldn't but Ellio couldn't help but blush by how the lady wolf is holding him. You have a fiancè, Ellio. Get it together! Still inside the huge castle, Ellio arrived at Kerry's quarters. It was a very spacious room that contained all her needs. It was decorated with antique furniture and evenly lit by a traditional chandelier in the middle. Kerry made him sit on her bed as she ordered one of the palace's maids for a set of tea. She then followed Ellio on the bed. "I apologize for what happened earlier." She started the conversation. "That Alpha of ours really got a little bit of patience." "No, it's okay." Ellio says, still amazed by this wolf's elegance. If only all the wolves in this place were as beautiful as Kerry, Ellio wouldn't mind extending his stay. "Thank you for butting in. If it weren't for you I could've gotten a punch from that àsshole." Kerry didn't understand some of the words but still forced herself to smile. A long silence enveloped them before Kerry started talking again. "Uhm.. I know waking up in this dimension freaked you out." Ellio couldn't agree more. He still can't believe that the characters of his nanny's bedtime stories were actually true. "But what Xorran said earlier is true," she added. "Unlike you humans, we, wolves, know that your species exists. Our world is connected by a portal that is located in the tree of life. It is where you came in but eight years ago, for some unknown reason, it suddenly went close. We have tried various ways but we still couldn't open it." Ellio's hope faded. "That means, I can never go back home anymore?" "Absolutely no." Kerry responds. "Xorran, even before you came in, was already searching for a way to open it. Our Alpha is wise, he will definitely find a way." That fact somehow calmed Ellio down. He was slowly processing up the fact that he is now in a different world with freaky wolves when the door suddenly slammed open revealing a nervous Pawn. "They're here. We need to hide the human." Who's them? Kerry gasped in shock. "They found out?" "The word spread across the south, west and east dimensions, Kerry. Xorran is dealing with them in the main hall," Pawn quickly responded before opening the back door. "You need to get out of here, human." He then motioned the confused Ellio to get out of it. "Who?" he asks, standing up. "Who's here? and why do I have to hide?" "The leaders of the other species.." Pawn answers. "..they're here to kill you.." "W-What..?"
