It was getting dark. Adam came out of the office, and Julieanna stood up as well. The secretaries around Julieanna observed the expression on her face, and they all had some sympathy for her more or less.
After getting in the car, Adam closed his eyes to rest. Suddenly, he said, "The HR Department said you checked the entry contract a few days ago?"
Julieanna's heart skipped a beat, yet she remained calm. "I forgot the exact time I came here."
Adam opened his eyes and stared at the side of her face with a half-smile. He said, "I figured that you thought the Pruitt Group wasn't good enough for you, and you wanted to be a job hopper."
"You got me wrong. I'm lucky to be your secretary."
Julieanna kept her breath steady and buttered him up in a calm tone, yet in fact, her mind was a mess.
Adam did not say anything else, but her heart was still beating violently.
She was indeed planning to quit. Adam had been difficult these days, and the sooner she left, the easier her life would be.
She had been dreaming of being Adam's wife five years ago. However, she was already sober a long time ago.
"Mr. Pruitt, we are here."
Julieanna was still wondering while the car had already stopped in front of Grandeur Hotel.
The hotel manager was already waiting for Adam together with some other staff from the hotel in advance. When he saw Adam, he greeted Adam obsequiously.
Julieanna collected herself and followed Adam to the top floor. The night view of the river could be seen through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows.
As soon as the elevator doors were opened, the pungent smell of disgusting perfume filled everyone's nostrils.
A man of forty with blond hair, blue eyes, and a loosened shirt collar came out and wanted to give Adam a hug.
Adam never cared if he would render others embarrassed at all. He sidestepped and dodged.
Coincidentally, Louis bumped into Julieanna, who was aside.
Louis' eyes lit up, and he grabbed Julieanna's hand. "Adam, the lady beside you is so beautiful."
As soon as he finished speaking, he ran his hand up Julieanna's arm.
Julieanna gritted her teeth and endured the disgust deep down. She did not retreat.
Adam was behind them, and all he did was frown slightly. Then he walked inside as if he hadn't seen anything at all.
Seeing that, Louis became bolder. He directly pulled Julieanna into his arms.
Julieanna maintained a smile on her face. She wanted to find an opportunity to break free, but she failed.
She looked at Adam several times, but the latter looked indifferent. Occasionally, he would be generous enough to respond to those senior executives' flattering words.
Everyone sat down. With Julieanna in his arms, Louis sat opposite Adam and asked tentatively, "Adam, is there a price for this secretary of yours?"
The atmosphere was a bit strange. The executives at the table were all secretly observing Adam's expression, afraid that he might get mad.
Julieanna gripped the handle of the chair, and her back unconsciously tightened.
"Her?" Adam raised his eyelids and turned to look at Julieanna with interest. His thin lips moved slightly as he said, "She has been with me for five years. A small amount of money won't be able to tempt her."
Hearing his words, everyone realized something.
They thought, what kind of top brass would stick to the same woman for five years? He must be tired of her already.
Their disgusting laughter and unscrupulous, dirty flirtation reached Julieanna's ears.
Julieanna took a deep breath and looked into Adam's calm eyes, enduring the feeling of nausea while Louis was kissing her ear.
Suddenly, she lurched sideways to avoid Louis' kiss.
Opposite them, Adam raised his eyebrows slightly.
"Mr. Calvo, a toast to you."
Julieanna smiled and handed a glass of wine to Louis. She said, "I'm flattered."
Those around them were kicking up the fuss.
Louis was overjoyed and drank the wine in one gulp while she was still holding the glass. "Baby, aren't you a sweetie?"
Noticing the burning gaze opposite her, Julieanna smiled brighter. She poured another glass of wine and brought it to Louis' lips.
"Another one?"
The surrounding men were urging, and Louis, the lecher, had already lost the ability to think straight because of his lust. Therefore, of course, he would drink again.
Julieanna's hand tilted, and she accidentally poured half a glass of wine on Louis' chest.
"Ah! I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..."
She was flustered and apologized non-stop, looking like a bunny caught in a trap.
Louis was not angry at all. He grabbed her hand and said, "Baby, don't worry. It's just a shirt. Come with me to the lounge, and I'll put on a new one."
Julieanna's plan was to get Louis occupied. To her surprise, he proposed going to the lounge directly.
She thought, if I go there with Louis, it'll be no different from getting a room with him.
She panicked and unconsciously looked across.
"What is it? Do you need your boss' permission for that?" Louis reached out and caressed Julieanna's chin, sizing up Adam opposite them meaningfully.
Adam leaned back in his chair, looking arrogant. Then he stooped to take a sip from his glass and didn't glance at Julieanna at all.
"You stained his shirt. Of course, you should clean it up."
He said without any hesitation as if he were a machine.
Julieanna nearly crushed her teeth.
Before she had a chance to observe Adam's expression, Louis had already pulled her up by her waist.
All around her were men, their eyes full of tacit mockery. Not one of them offered to help her.
Julieanna felt desperately cold deep down while she was taken away against her will.
