JESSICA BERKELEY. The church hall buzz loudly around me with people moving back and forth carrying ribbons, chairs, boxes, and Christmas decorations while children run recklessly between adults. I tighten my grip around the stack of invitation papers in my hands while forcing another polite smile toward someone asking if “that quiet young man” was coming later. Two days.
