Chapter 19

My brother looked like I had just stabbed him and it hurt but I had seen how tensed Jake was since the morning and I just wanted him to relax a little.

Earlier that morning:

My eyes opened Jake was holding me tight and he was lying on top of me. His face under my neck, hand tightly wrapped around my waist and our legs entangled.

I smiled, ruffling his hair. I was playing with his hair when he finally opened his eyes but he didn’t look at me.

“Hey what happened?” I gently upped his chin.

“I don’t want to leave here” he whispered 

“Why not” I teased rubbing my nose against his

“Promise me you won’t leave me”  he looked intensely at me

Understanding dawned upon me.

I closed my eyes, 

“No, Ria promise me you won’t leave” he said panicked

“I love you Jake” my eyes watering

“Don’t say it like that! Like it’s a goodbye. I won’t let you leave me” his voice hard.

“Am I prisoner here Jacob?”

He stilled, “Of course not”

“Then don’t speak to me as if I am. Whatever I choose will be my decision, I’m telling you that I’m in love with you, but I need my family to support my decision.”

“What do you mean?” His eyes dulled.

“Hey look at me.” I pulled his face towards mine as I kissed him, thoroughly, hoping he’d understand.

“I will fight for us, as long as you’re with me, not against my family. I need you with me Jake” I whispered against his lips.

He nodded, “Always. I’m always with you, love”

I smiled

Flashback over.

“Victoria come back here” Victor said

I looked at my brother and smiled, “I am where I’m suppose to be Vic”

I held Jake’s hand so that he’d remain calm.

“What the hell is going on Victoria” my father roared

I tensed but didn’t deter. “I have chosen my groom father, I just need you to give me your blessing”

“Tori have you lost it? This man abducted you and you want to marry him?” Victor looked at me with disappointment.

Jake’s hold on my hand tightened. I squeezed his hand. “I fell in love, brother.”

My father and brother looked at me as if they didn’t know me, like I was a stranger, and that hurt more than anything but I wasn’t going to let Jake go. I couldn’t imagine my life without him.

"Father I want to tell you things, the discussion we had, there are a lot of misunderstandings, you're fed with false news, those are rumours, all of it. This place, these people are very different, nothing like what you thought."

Nobody spoke, father remained silent looking impassive.

“Please. Don’t make me choose. I can’t imagine my life without him and I will not marry anyone else.” I pleaded with father.

My father snorted disgustingly at me, “So you’re going to fight against us?”

“What? Why will there be any fight? Father I’m not held up here against my wishes, I’m telling you that I want to stay here. I'm asking you to let me marry Prince Jacob.” I said

Papa looked at Jake and King Harry and said, “Of course they didn’t tell you.”

My brows furrowed

“What do you mean?” I looked at Jake and he looked stricken.

“Jake” I whispered my brows furrowed

He looked at me and said, “This was before I met you Ria, none of this is related to us, I wouldn’t even go to the battle if you asked, I promise.”

“I don’t understand” I looked at my father in confusion

“There is a war coming for our Kingdom Kuru and your precious Jacob and his father our going to be fighting against us” he said repugnantly.

And suddenly even though Jake was holding my hand, I felt cold, so cold..

 Suddenly all the emotions were getting locked away.

I felt numb.
