The heavy smell of antiseptic brushes her nose as she opens her eyes slowly. Her eyes land on the unfamiliar ceiling, the beep from the patient monitor forcing its way into her ears.
"Are you okay?" A voice calls out.
At that moment, Rita regained her mind. She remembered everything vividly; she had passed out earlier. Oh gosh, she made such a bad impression on her first day. Her heart raced as she prayed silently; if only God could save her from getting a penalty from Donald, she would definitely be grateful for the rest of her life.
"Can you hear me?" His voice rang in her ears.
Rita almost flinched out of her skin; she was really scared of him. "Yes, I'm fine", she responded slowly, biting her lower lip.
Betty held her hand warmly. "I'm so worried about you", she muttered. "You really scared me, Rita"
"I'm deeply sorry, ma'am. I don't mean to scare you. I will be more careful next time," Rita answered, a pleading tone in her voice. What mattered most to her at that moment was getting a good grade from Donald, and she couldn't afford to mess things up.
Meanwhile, Betty and Donald exchange glance. They both find it strange when Rita apologizes. "Why are you apologising? You don't need that, Rita. Let's just focus on you getting better, huh," Betty said, calmly as she held Rita's hand.
Just then, Donald's father walked in with the doctor. "Mrs Hart, you are awake" He beamed a smile upon seeing Rita. "There is nothing much, just you having malnutrition. However, I will advise you to start eating regularly to avoid putting your health at risk because you seem to be prone to more risk based on the result. Please, pay attention to your nutrition"
"Thanks so much, Doctor. I will make sure she eats well myself. Is there any other thing we need to work on?" Betty asked, facing the doctor.
"There is nothing else, ma'am", He replied. "I have other patients to attend to; I will take my leave. You can reach out to the nurse for the discharging" With that, the doctor closed the door behind him.
A short silence followed. At that moment, unexpected sweat broke out of Rita's skin; she had never felt this level of embarrassment.
"I'm glad it's nothing much", Donald's father broke the silence; he faced Donald. "Inform the butler to prepare your wife's favorite meal"
Donald coughed awkwardly, making eye contact with Rita. He had no idea what she liked, not let alone her favourite meal. "Umm, he can just prepare different meals. She will pick whatever she wants"
Without warning, Betty hit Donald on his shoulder. "You cold stone! Where is that nonsense coming from? Now go home and prepare a nice meal for your wife!" She shouted.
"I'm good with pasta and soy milk" Rita saved the atmosphere from escalating to Venus. "Thanks, love, having different meals isn't bad"
Before Betty responded, Donald cut in. "I will go and take care of things. I will leave my wife in your hands" With that, he excused himself from the hospital room.
Michael, who had been waiting outside, joined him as they both walked towards the reception. "Have you reached out to her?" Donald asked the moment they got outside.
"Yes, Boss, she is waiting for you at the coffee cafe", Michael responded.
"Good, let's go" They both entered the car, and the driver zoomed off.

Sophia won't stop smiling after receiving a call from Donald; her hopes are so high, like Mount Everest. While waiting at the coffee cafe, she brought out her small portable mirror and adjusted her hair to the back, ensuring her cleavage was revealing.
Earlier, she had pretended to care about Rita, trying to wake her up. Now that Donald reached out to her first, it seems like he wants to talk things out with her. That alone made her happy.
Just then, Donald entered the cafe, possessing a domineering aura. Ladies around glued their eyes to him as he walked towards Sophia.
"Oh my gosh! He is handsome; that must be his girlfriend"
Hearing the muttering, Sophia adjusted herself on the seat, beaming the best smile of her till Donald took his seat opposite her.
"You..."
"I'm here to warn you", Donald cut her off. "In everything you do, don't mess with my wife"
Sophia's face turned red immediately; she didn't expect that. However, this moment to sit with Donald won't come again; she must make a good impression. "I'm sorry, Donald. I mean no harm to her; we are just talking things out as lady to lady," Sophia lied through her teeth.
"Miss Sterling, I don't remember us having a close relationship for you to address me by name. What audacity do you have?! The next time you try such, I will make sure everything in the Sterling's family pays, including the air you breathe"
Sophia bowed instantly. "I'm sorry, Mr Hart. I will know my place"
Donald stood up, glaring hard at her. Earlier, he left his watch at the dining table; coming to pick it up, he overheard Sophia's conversation with Rita. He was drooling over Rita's savage response until she passed out.
"You better behave" With that, Donald left the cafe.
On getting outside, he received a text message from his mom.
~Your wife just got discharged, and we are heading home. You better make sure her meal is ready, or you look for another mother ~
He read the message carefully. "s**t!" He sighed before turning to Michael. "Have you made preparations for the meal?"
"Yes, Butler Jay is in control"
"That's good. Any mistake, Mom won't hesitate to fire at us," He teased. Even though he is cold and aloof, he can be the best boss to his assistant. They grew up together after Donald took Michael in at a young age; the bond between them is so strong that people do fear Michael, especially the staff.
"By the way, do you know any flower shops nearby? I need to get something for my wife," He said, entering the car.
Michael stood stunned; it felt like he heard the wrong thing. Since when did he become such a caring husband?
"Are you seriously getting flowers?" Michael screamed in disbelief.
Meanwhile, Donald felt a throbbing headache the moment he entered the car. He opened the notepad on his phone. Staring at what he had written so far for the day, he added getting flowers for his wife, Rita.
He did that because he knows that by the next day, he will wake up with a blank memory.
