Chapter Four

937 Words
Grayson’s POV As Kandice and I walk out of the building and to the car I snap at her, “Do not ever accuse clients of stealing!” Kandice gawks at me, opening and closing her mouth like a fish unable to respond. “They are my best friends! I’ve known them since 4th grade and you almost made me lose their business,” I’m seething not only because she upset a client and my friends, but because she accused Jai of all people. “Grayson I think you’re a little close to this one. I know your history with them, especially with Jailyn,” she says her name with contempt, but attempts to remain silky and seductive, “I just wanted to make sure we had all of the information, just like you would have.” She flutters her lashes and I look at her. Her mud colored eyes are nothing like the brilliant green of Jai’s, but she is pretty. She’s crisp and clean with her blonde hair straightened and her painted red nails dangerously long. In her pants suit she looks every bit the calm lawyer that she is. I pull her to me and kiss her forehead, “I know. I’m sorry.” I hold her, but can’t help but think about the fireball I left upstairs. Jai’s POV I stand in my office looking down at the street watching as Grayson and that woman embrace in the streets. God, why does it have to be her? Couldn’t he have gotten a different partner? The way she was leaning all over him was beyond unprofessional, and I didn’t like the jealousy that it stirred in my gut. I turn away from the nauseating scene and walk over to my desk, glancing at the picture of Grayson, Troy, and I after our last highschool game. We’re all in our uniforms, mine golden with a short skirt and a black bow in my red hair, theirs black with golden accents. We’re all smiling, happy, and carefree it seems like so long ago. With the help of Troy I built my company from the ground up. I created countless designs and marketed like no one's business. Troy's profeciency in math makes him the world's best CFO and in the span of four years we've made a fashion empire with clothes being sold world wide. I can't believe that someone would accuse me of stealing designs when I am famous my unique looks, or that a lawyer I'm paying way too much money to, would question my honesty. If not for Grayson I would have fired her on the spot. I've worked too hard to get where I am only to be brought down by some bimbo's incompetence. All because she's too busy eye-f*****g my Grayson instead of doing her damn job. My phone begins to ring and without looking at it I answer, “This is Jailyn,” I say into the phone, still reminiscing on simpler times, party games, first kisses, and a blonde boy that turned my world upside down. "Hey baby!" My boyfriend's voice purrs through the phone, "I've missed you. How about we order take out and stay in tonight?" I roll my eyes knowing exactly what his plans for the night are. "Hey, I promised Troy and Grayson we would go out for a drink. We haven't had much time to just hang out. We're going to Jerry's at 8. Why don't you come, we'll have a couple drinks and then head home?" He and I only recently started living together and I've regretted the decision ever since. I hear him grumble, "You want me to share you with two other guys right after being gone for three days?" Trumble travels with his dad for business, but I suspect there's more play than work going on when he's away. "One of those guys is my brother! Come on baby, if you get me drunk I might be more relaxed tonight." I try the seduction tactic not wanting to indulge any of his weird fetishes, but willing to sacrifice for this night out. I hear him perk up, "What are you thinking?" He coaxes as if I'm the one with the unusual tastes, I cover the phone and sigh looking up to check my office door is closed. I once again walk over to the window and look only to find Grayson and Kandice still on the street, but now in a deep kiss. “Well we can take a shower, then I’ll cook whatever you want,” I feel my eyes burn, “then you can use me as a plate, and do whatever you want to me.” I try to make my voice seductive even though I’m shuddering. I hear him groan through the phone and know I’ve won, “Ok, we’ll go out for a few drinks. See you in a bit.” “See you,” I whisper, hanging up as a tear rolls down my cheek. Why does that b***h get the most amazing guy and I’m stuck with a rich, snobby, playboy that wouldn’t know how to pleasure a woman if his life depended on it. I turn around and head back to my desk sitting down and grabbing the picture. My mind can’t help but wander back to that amazing night 5 years ago.
