Mac let go of her hand as soon as they stepped into the hotel. They were, after all, enemies on the screen. They’d agreed they needed to keep up appearances until the show was completely aired and the finale streamed. Well, she decided for them. Mac had been ready to scream their relationship status from the rooftops.
As far as Natalie was concerned, Gail Sterling knowing was bad enough. Just before they got to the ballroom, she turned to Mac and said, “Thank you for letting me ramble.”

“You know I do.”
“Well, the only other way I know to calm you is to kiss you, and you’ve made it clear that isn’t happening as long as we’re at this party, so I figured letting you spout facts would have to do. Plus, I always learn something new when you get nervous.”
