Natalie woke early the next morning, determined to go at the job search with fresh eyes. Jillian was already gone to work, but she’d left a note stuck to Nat’s bedroom door.

She crumpled the paper and carried it to the kitchen to toss in the trash. Another note was stuck to the coffee maker.

She threw that one away too. After starting the coffee maker, she went to the living room with her notebook. She began with the notes she and Jillian made the previous night. She had a list of skills and qualifications that would take her beyond a library.
