Something about his captor’s demeanor hinted that she had intentions even worse than a lifetime of canine r**e in store for him – if that was even possible. Knowing Lilli, he felt certain it was. Yet even at this unthinkable nadir, this hideously ignominious end to his quest, Bobby’s defining (and refining) trip through the crucible eventually steadied him. Though hope seemed more pathetic by the step, his hard-earned selflessness allowed him to do without it.
