Day One
I don’t know which will kill me first. The utter mortification of someone finding me half naked with my skirt hanging around my waist, my boobs out for display or the mate bite from a wolf that wasn’t my soul-mate. Half of my worry was solved as my heavy eye glared open. I was looking at clear sky, surrounded by thick trees and branches. Where the f**k was I. I pushed up. Frantically panting around my body to make sure I was properly clothed. My clothes had been changed. Instead of my see through lace top and tight skirt, I had on a sweatshirt and a baggy jersey trouser. I swerved my face around to take in my surrounding. I was in the middle of God-forsaken nowhere. Where was I. better question who changed my clothes. Was it Adrain. Adrain. I had been so worried about being decent I had buried the sound of my whimpering wolf. My hand flew to my neck, I felt two dotted holes still raw and fresh, a clear reminder that last night was not a dream. I had been bitten. I winced as the taste of acrid started to fill my mouth. This was the first symptom. My wolf was going die. I was going to die. Unless I find Adrain and reverse the bond. How the bond was going to be reversed. I had no idea but I had to find Adrain first.
I dusted crumbs of dust off my butt area. My back rigid with clear determination, I was going to save my life. I was going to find that bastard werewolf Adrain but first I needed change of clothes and in order to do that I needed to find my way out of the woods. Just before I gave up and decide to start living a nomad life in the woods, a bird flew by. Flapping its giant wings, chippering as it soars in the sky. I quickly followed the direction of the bird, navigating through thick branches, my eyes partially keeping track to ensure I don’t lose sight of the bird. Just as I thought, I was standing between wide span of tiled roads with no cars or pedestrian in sight. I was still in the middle of f*****g nowhere. Cramped up determination seeping away, frustration building up in my chest in fiery hot rage. I was angry, rage flowing through my bloodstream like electricity. Deep within that anger was something more. something raw. Something that stripped me raw to my very core. Ripping away confidence and strength, laying my soul bare in the middle of the deserted area I was in. I felt tears stinging my eyes threatening to fall down uncontrollably like flood through a guarded gate. If I didn’t think it was a terrible idea that would do me no help, I’d plunged my ass back on the floor and open the guarded gates of tears. At least my sense of self perseverance was still intact. Except I didn’t act on it when I decided to open my legs to a stranger to get revenge on my ex- boyfriend who cheated on me with my best friend of seven years. My chest painfully rippled in my chest at the thought. I shook my head. No point blaming myself over something I can’t change. Saving my wolf before the poisonous bite spread and kill me was my priority. As if on cue, I saw the headlights of a car approaching. I straightened my back, stretching my arm out with my thumbs up, signaling for help. As the car got closer, I opted for desperately flinging my wrist.
The car stopped right in front of me, the dark rimmed windows preventing me from seeing who was inside. The car’ door jerked open and mop of wavy blonde hair reared out. His handsome face and sharp jaw line didn’t trigger my very core until I came face to face with his sparkling green eyes. I staggered back, my body ripping with fear. His perfectly shaped brows scrunched up in confusion at my reaction and then relaxed as if in secret understanding.
“Are you Kayla?” his rich low voice asked.
“What?” my voice trembled. I took more steps backwards. Great. Another hot green-eyed stranger here to ruin my life. maybe this one would kill me. Completely put me out of my misery. My wolf turned in dissatisfaction. Urging me to push forward. In her weak state, I felt only a tiny tug.
“How do you know my name?” I stood planted where I was. Not daring to move closer.
“My brother” he started before running his hand through his hair and letting out a sigh “My brother told me where to find you” he finished. His hair sticking out from him running his hand through it which I suspected was something he did a lot judging from the strands of hair on his dark suit. I wanted to reach out and pat down his clothes. I swallowed the inappropriate thought and raised my eyebrows. It was my turn to be confused.
His lips parted in response, he motioned his index to his neck, doting an imaginary hole on the flesh of his neck. My eyes widened. My chest pounding loudly against my ribcage. I took a step forward. I could see the resemblance now. Aside the striking green eyes, the slightly crooked edge on their nose was similar, so is the sharpness of their jaw. My heart raced even more.
“You are Adrain’s brother. You’re that bastard’s brother”. I didn’t realize I was screaming until I heard the echo of my voice ringing through the forest around me. I angled my head and forced myself to look into his stupid green eyes. “What. You’ve come to finish the job?”
“I’m not here to hurt you” he said simply. His expression stoic.
My lips spread out in a humorless smile. I pulled at the hem of my shirt, exposing the red dotted bite mark to him. “What will you call this?” I demanded. My nose flaring. He pressed his lips in a thin line, the spark in his green eyes fading, darkening into a slit as he glared at the bite mark on my neck. What the hell. was he angry.
Before I could press further, his head spun sideways, his ears prickling, his nose sniffing the air like a dog. He turned to me with a look of urgency. “We have to go. Now” he walked across the car, opening the passenger door for me to get in.
I crossed my arms over chest. “I’m not going anywhere with any of you, sick f***s. Not again. Never again. You have your brother come meet me right here and undo this” I pulled at my shirt again, pouting my lips like a child about to throw a tantrum.
“They are closer” he responded, completely ignoring me “I can sense a herd of them. With me alone, I’ll take them out but I can’t do that while trying to protect you in your weak state”
I blew out raspberry. Yup. Definitely a child throwing tantrum. “Yeah. Nice try. I’m staying right here. Whoever is coming can meet me right here. Can’t be worse than what your brother did to me”
“You can’t sense them?” he looked at me quizzically. “Sense who”?” I scoffed.
“A group of vampires are passing through here.” He gave me a once over “Your wolf is dying rapidly than I expected. I don’t think you can even turn right now. I need you to come with me”
“No”
His fingers escaped into his hair, making it stick out even more “I get that you don’t trust me but if you stay here, you will die”
I looked him up and down like I was considering his offer “If you think I’m going anywhere with another one of you green eyed bastards. Then you must be dumber than you ac-” a sharp jerk of pain spread across my face, I felt my body fall against hard flesh before I enveloped into darkness.
That son of a b***h knocked me out.
Day Two
Werewolves don’t black out. Not from alcohol, not from a fight and definitely not from getting punched. Twice I’ve fainted now. And each one caused by the devil spawn of brothers from hell. My eyes fluttered. I bat my eyelashes couple times to blink the blurriness away. I sat upright as my vision came into focus. I was in a bed. Whose bed. I looked around me. Where the hell was I. The Victorian styled bedroom wasn’t familiar. My hand went to my head as I felt a sharp pain, screeching through my head like it will split my skull open. Trying to left my hand to fully balance my head in my palm, just to have my movement restricted. My wrist was chained to the headboard. I pulled at it. the chains only rattled in response. I tried again, pulling with all my strength to rip the chain out of the headboard but it didn’t bulge. What’s going on. Ripping a chain in half would have been a walk in the park. If I can’t even get myself out of chains then I certainly can’t turn. First, I had passed out. now, I didn’t have any strength. What have I done to myself. I should have reacted differently. Done things differently. Things would have been different. My need for revenge only cost me my life and didn’t win me anything. I didn’t realize I was crying until I felt a wet droplet lightly splash on my white dress. White dress. My previous had been changed out, replaced with a flowy white cotton dress. who changes the outfit of the person they kidnapped and then chain them up like an animal. On cue, the door swinged opened. Mop of blonde hair in his six-foot glory walked in. this time his hair was slicked back and he was still in the same all black suit. suspecting that’s all he ever wore.
“You’re awake” the same baritone voice announced “I was worried you would not wake up” his brows knitted as if he was considering the possibility of me dying in my sleep.
“Where am I?” I pulled at the chain, fruitlessly “Why am I in this?”
He walked slowly towards me, taking each step tentatively like he was approaching a wounded animal. “You’re in the Spade manor. Don’t worry you’re safe here. Nobody can get past the gates. As for the chain, that’s also for your safety”
I looked down at my clothes “I didn’t change you” he answered quickly, as if reading my mind. “Madame Rory did. She helps put the house in order”
“You call your help madame?” I scoffed. He ignored me. Taking more steps till he was in front of me. Glaring down at the fang mark on my neck, “More than anything. I hate that he used you to get to me” he said. What the hell was he talking about. Was he angry. Why would he be angry when it was his brother that bit me. If anyone should be angry it should be me but for some reason my rage had taken a backdoor and unexplainable calmness settled in my chest.
“What the hell are you” I said loudly. I should be enraged. Demand he bring his brother, undo this curse “Are you a f*****g werewolf too, Adrain’s Brother” he glanced at me like I had just asked if the sky was blue. Of course, I knew he was a werewolf. It’s not like I expected his mother to give birth to one werewolf and one unicorn. Considering the fact that she gave birth to one murderer and one kidnapper, she would have been better off with the unicorns.
“Damien” he said introducing himself like he didn’t just knock me out and then proceeded to kidnap me.
I responded by staring at him blankly
“Not Adrain’s brother. Damien” he clarified.
