My heart stopped. He stood there looking absolutely gorgeous in a white shirt tucked in formal pants. He had one hand in his pocket and the other on his phone. His black hair had grown. He looked more masculine and more mature than ever. He stopped what he was doing on his phone and looked up. his eye wondered around for a while before finally resting on me. I stood there looking at his dazzling hazel eyes, eyes that could cut through even diamonds. We stood like that for a moment before he finally broke the eye contact. His sparling eyes turned into one of pure and undeniable coldness. I got confused.
i walked towards him with a smile plastered on my face. I was about to greet him with a hug when suddenly he said, "Let's get going, I have way more important things to attend to than picking up my friend's little sister." I stilled. Was that what I was to him?
His best friends little sister?
Who am I kidding? He has never once looked at me with anything other than the eyes of a stranger.
although I have loved him, I longed for him since I first saw him. He will always see me as a friend's sister and nothing else.
I followed behind him to his car. He had a rather weathy car. I mean, it's not surprising. His family has always been wealthy while I grew up in a middle-class family. They were in the top 5 of the richest family in our city.
We entered his car and he started driving. Complete silence fell upon us.
I tried to make small talk. "So, how are you nowadays?" I asked with a smile on my face. No reply. My face fell. "Aiden?" What he said next shattered my heart into pieces. "I do not wish to speak to you or have anything to do with you at all. I am picking you up simple because i owed your brother one. do not speak to me unless you are spoken to. I would appreciate it if you do noteven look my way."
Tears sprung to my eyes. I hadn't even done anything to him. Why would he say something like that? Was I that bad?
The tears threatened to fall, but I won't let them. I wouldn't let him see just how affected I was by his words. I had to show him that I was just his bestfriends sister and not the girl who fell in love with him 6 years ago and still is.
The drive was long and uncomfortable.
He drove into my driveway.
I mumbled a quick thank you and ran off. I took my luggage and went to my front door.
I had to appear happy for my family. I rang the bell. My mother opened the door with the biggest smile. "My sweet pie!!" mother cried out with tears of happiness. I couldn't hold myself back anymore and sobbed while hugging her. I missed my family so much. "Bring her in, will you?!" My father screamed from inside. We both got in just as I saw Aiden pulling out of the driveway.
My eyes lingered at his vehicle and then went inside my house. My father had decorated the living room with welcome balloons. "Is that the smell of apple pie??!!" I squealed. I absolutely loved apple pies. "Yes, yes, it is, but first freshen up. then you will get your apple pie." My mother said. "Okay!" I said while running to my old room.
It was still the same as before. Very pink.
6 years ago, when I was 13, my parents sent me to live with my grandmother in Italy. I had almost finished my high school when mom urged me to return and finish it here.
I have only one more year to go until graduation. My brother had already graduated 3 years ago. He is 24, and I am 19. He is the same age as Aiden.
Although we don't have much of an age gap, my parents would definitely be against it.
While showering, all I could think about was the words Aiden had said today. He truly meant it, didn't he?
