Jasmine's p.o.v.
I watched the doctor approach, my heart pounding in rhythm with Chloe’s frantic one beside me. I prayed silently, desperately, that this nightmare wasn’t real—that Mark was still alive.
As the doctor reached us, Chloe couldn’t hold herself together any longer.
“Say something! Why are you still silent? How’s Mark?” Her voice broke through the chaos, raw with desperation.
“I… I’m so sorry, miss. We did everything we could, but there was no way to save him. The bullets caused severe bleeding… we couldn’t do more.” The doctor’s words fell like stones, heavy with sorrow.
Chloe froze. Then collapsed, screaming in anguish, clutching his lifeless body as if sheer force of will could bring him back.
