"Quick, get Professor Smith to treat the patient. If you wait any longer, it'll be too late."
"I'm busy and don't have time to waste here," Peter said curtly. "I only came because of Dr. Anderson."
Peter straightened up and declared confidently, "Let me make this clear: I'll take full responsibility if anything happens to Mr. Patel after I remove the needles."
Without hesitation, he stepped forward and carefully removed the silver needles from Brandon's body.
Turning to Jason and the others, he said, "This isn't a heart condition. It's poisoning. Set up an IV immediately to get the toxins out."
Just as he was about to name the medication, Brandon's body suddenly convulsed. His face darkened, his legs stiffened, and he lay motionless.
The monitoring device beside the hospital bed emitted a piercing alarm, and the three lines on the screen slowly flattened into straight lines.
"It's... It's impossible..." Peter froze, his face draining of color.
"Professor Smith, what's happening?" Emily demanded, her voice sharp and accusing.
Cold sweat dripped down Peter's forehead. "Dr. Anderson, the patient's in critical condition. We need to begin resuscitation immediately!"
Jason wasted no time, calling for the medical team to start emergency procedures.
Despite their frantic efforts, Brandon remained unresponsive, his body still and lifeless.
Panic set in. Peter wiped his forehead repeatedly, his hands trembling as he stammered, "We've done everything we could. Prepare for the funeral."
"What?"
Gasps filled the room.
"No, no, this isn't my fault!" Peter waved his hands frantically, trying to shift the blame. "It's his fault. His acupuncture killed Mr. Patel!"
He pointed at Aaron.
Smack!
Aaron, equally panicked and drenched in sweat, stepped forward and slapped Peter across the face.
"I told you not to remove the needles, but you wouldn't listen! Now he's dead, and you're blaming me? You b*stard!"
Emily snapped, her eyes blazing with fury, "You call yourself a professor? You're worse than a quack! You're responsible for my grandfather's death, and I won't let this go!"
The ward fell into a tense silence.
Peter and Jason stood pale and trembling.
Everyone knew the power of the Patel family. If they wanted to, they could make Peter and Jason disappear without a trace.
Outside the room, Gabriel, who had been quietly observing, finally decided to step in. Saving a life was always the right thing to do, but he couldn't openly humiliate Aaron and Peter.
He turned and motioned for Jessica to come over. She hesitated, noticing the serious expression on his face, but eventually walked toward him.
Leaning close to her ear, Gabriel whispered, "Your grandfather isn't dead. He's just in shock."
He continued, "I heard from Emily that her father recently got a thousand-year-old ginseng. Cut three slices, brew them into tea, and give it to your grandfather to drink."
He explained, "He doesn't have a blocked vessel or poisoning. It's heart failure. You've all been treating the wrong condition. Once he drinks the ginseng tea, he'll wake up. If he keeps drinking it regularly, he'll even live longer."
Jessica froze, realization dawning on her. She realized this man was the real miracle doctor.
Her grandfather's condition wasn't a blocked vessel. It was heart failure. Both she and Aaron had used the wrong acupuncture technique.
No wonder things had only gotten worse. The needles had overstimulated Brandon's heart, causing it to weaken further.
And Peter's abrupt removal of the needles triggered a sudden contraction, leading to cardiac arrest and shock.
As a medical student herself, Jessica knew that if it really was heart failure, ginseng tea would be the perfect remedy.
Ginseng was known to be a lifesaver for the heart.
"Can you help me save him?" Jessica asked, looking at Gabriel with newfound respect.
Gabriel glanced toward Emily, who was still in the ward, and shook his head. "I can't embarrass Aaron and Peter too much. Don't tell anyone it was me who told you this. Go quickly. If you wait any longer, it'll be too late to save him."
Snapping out of her daze, Jessica turned and pulled Henry from the crowd. "Uncle, where's the thousand-year-old ginseng?"
Henry blinked in surprise before pulling the ginseng from his pocket. "Emily told me to take it with me. She said if Gabriel cured your grandfather, this would be his reward."
"This ginseng from the deep mountains cost me a million," he added.
Jessica took the ginseng, carefully sliced three thin pieces with a knife, and took the hot water bottle to brew a cup of ginseng tea.
Amid the chaos, Aaron and Peter tried to slip away, but Henry quickly stepped forward, blocking their path with his legs.
"You're not going anywhere. If anything happens to my father, you'll both pay for it!"
Aaron's face turned pale as sweat began to bead on his forehead.
Meanwhile, Jessica finished brewing a small bowl of ginseng tea. With Alice's help, who pried open the old man's mouth, she spooned the tea into him bit by bit.
As soon as the tea went down, Brandon's chest began to rise and fall slightly.
"Grandpa's breathing!" Emily cried out, her tears quickly turning into laughter. "Look! His fingers are moving too!"
A moment later, Brandon slowly opened his eyes and looked around at everyone.
"Who saved me? Jessica, was it you?"
Jessica instinctively glanced toward the door, wanting to mention Gabriel. But remembering his instructions, she stayed silent.
At that moment, Aaron stood near the door, and Brandon assumed that he was the savior. He turned his gaze to Aaron and said, "Dr. Freeman, since you saved me, Evelyn, you should marry him."
Emily froze, her eyes darting toward Jessica.
Although she hadn't heard Gabriel's instructions, she had seen him signaling to Jessica earlier and knew it was actually Gabriel who had saved her grandfather.
Aaron, on the other hand, was nothing more than a useless quack with a reputation for flirting with women.
Her anger flared as she stormed over to Aaron, glaring at him.
"You almost killed my grandfather! It was Gabriel who saved him!" she yelled. "Get out! I don't ever want to see you again!"
Her fury toward Aaron only deepened her admiration for Gabriel.
Aaron stood there stunned, his face twisting with embarrassment before he awkwardly turned and left.
The entire ward fell silent. Everyone, including Peter, Jason, and the other medical staff, was stunned.
'What happened?' they wondered.
That plain-looking young man outside had simply said a few words, had Jessica feed a small bowl of ginseng tea to Brandon, who was practically dead, and somehow brought him back to life.
All eyes turned toward Gabriel in disbelief.
Gabriel, however, didn't stay to explain. He simply turned and walked away.
The crowd began murmuring among themselves.
"That intern saved Mr. Patel!"
"It's incredible!"
The Patel family members were overjoyed by Brandon's sudden recovery.
Emily quickly left the hospital room to look for Gabriel, but he was nowhere to be found.
"Where is Gabriel? I want to give him two million dollars as a consultation fee," she said as she stepped into the elevator.
She drove off, determined to find him.
The consultation fee was one thing, but more importantly, she wanted to take the chance to win him over.
Over the three years Gabriel had been married to Evelyn, Emily had seen him several times. Despite his poverty, there was something mysterious about him that made her fall for him.
Last night, she overheard Evelyn saying she and Gabriel were getting divorced. Her heart fluttered, and she decided to invite Gabriel to treat her grandfather to see if he truly had the skills.
