Evelyn replied urgently, "I'm just his friend!"
"Hmph! You look just as suspicious. For all I know, you're in on this with him. Take her too!" The deputy chief waved his hand, and two officers stepped forward, cuffing Evelyn.
The unexpected twist left everyone frozen in shock.
Gabriel frowned and said, "Officer, she's got nothing to do with this. It's all on me."
Claire rushed forward, pleading, "Yes, yes! It's Gabriel who's the troublemaker, not my daughter! If you need to arrest someone, arrest him. My daughter is innocent!"
Dominic was in a panic, "Officer, my sister's done nothing wrong. You can't punish the innocent!"
"We'll sort out who's innocent after the investigation. Take them away!" The deputy chief ordered, and the two were promptly escorted to the police car.
