"What a blockhead!" The thought of Lucas being with Emily filled her with a pang of jealousy.
"Emily, wait, let me explain..." Lucas rushed after her, catching up with Emily at the door. "It was an emergency, I was only trying to protect her, nothing else."
"Really?" Emily asked with a skeptical look.
Lucas looked dead serious. "Of course it's true. Would I lie to you about something like this?"
Emily's face broke into a smile. "Alright, since you bothered to chase after me, I guess I'll forgive you!"
Her sudden change of heart left Lucas stunned, making him wonder if Emily had been acting all along.
