When Jade got there, they were waiting for him on the front porch of his parents’ home. All through the years he was growing up, it had been a welcoming sight. Now the porch seemed ramshackle and small, especially when compared to the sweeping, uncluttered arms of Señor’s. Amid the overgrown plants that had once been so lovingly tended by his mother and the plastic pink-and-white-striped seat cushions that she had repaired over and over with matching masking tape, Paris and Alicia looked up expectantly.
