Chapter 6

I stayed gummed on my spot, unable to speak as I watched them share a deep kiss. After a brief moment, their lips parted. But that wasn't the end, I watched her sit comfortably on his leg, her arms around his shoulder. Then she looked at me, our eyes met. A cold stare. I never thought that I'll be meeting my role model in such a way. I stayed silent, waiting for her to speak. Her eyes ran through my body for a while, her expression was that of disgust. “Is she perhaps here for the same contract?” I thought. “But they just kissed. Or has she gotten it with some connection of hers already?” My mind battled with different thoughts. Then finally, she broke the silence. “This trash” she pointed at me. “Really? Babe?. You could have at least gotten someone with class and not this cheap wanna be” Her words came out raw and direct. I felt embarrassed and ashamed immediately she said those words. “Trash?! Cheap?!” I screamed in my head. The embarrassment I felt, slowly turned to anger. My hands vibrated beneath the table. I stayed calm, trying not to give my anger away. Then I recalled what she had called him earlier. BABE! “She’s his girlfriend?! They are dating?! Then why the f**k am I here?” I was confused. What was going on exactly? I finally summoned the courage to speak. “You're in a relationship?” I directed my eyes to Him. My brows arched as I awaited his response. “Yeah. Got a problem with that?” he replied nonchalantly. I blinked back my confusion. This wasn't what Nelly said it would be like but whatever his reason was for not marrying his girlfriend, then that wasn't my business. I’m here for the contract and I'll do just that. “No, no problem” I shook my head. “Good. Then, sign this.” he drew a document close to me. It was the contract. I read through it, my eyes caught the payment, it was huge. One million dollars!. My eyes went wide on their own, it was more than enough to take care of my mum and I. I nodded in agreement to the content of the contract, almost tearing up as I got my pen and wrote my signature in the needed places. “Great, I'll send a driver to your residence tomorrow at noon, he’ll bring you and your belongings to my place.” “Tomorrow?” I repeated. “I do not repeat myself” he replied coldly. I nodded in agreement despite the fact that I wasn't comfortable with the idea of moving in tomorrow, but what could I possibly do? I had already signed the contract. They both stood up, preparing for to leave the hotel together. “Wait. I need an upfront payment to settle my mum’s bills.” I said in my head. “Umm, Clark. I need an upfront payment if that's fine.” I said with pleading eyes. “Clark?!” Ivory shouted. “It's been less than a minute you signed the contract and you're already addressing him by his name. You're even making demands?!” She took fast steps toward me, her heels hitting the floor as she walked. Before I knew what was happening, she grabbed a glass of wine and splashed it on me. “How dare you!” She shouted. My eyes went wide in my sockets as the wine rolled down my dress. Wetting my face completely and ruining my makeup. I tasted the wine as my mouth hung open. Then I heard her laugh. Her uncontrollable laughter echoed round the room. She almost tripped on her legs while laughing but Clark caught her before she could fall. “Babe look, she's not even wearing good makeup. It's not even waterproof” I folded in embarrassment. My eyes caught his own, our eyes stayed on each other for a short moment before he looked away coldly. “Come on Ivory, let's leave, I have a meeting with my father” he said and guided her out of the room as she kept laughing. I watched them leave. Her laughter dying down as they shut the doors behind them. I stayed on my spot, tears tickled my eyes but I'll be a fool to let them fall. I stood up and found my way to the washroom to clean up. After managing to clean myself up. Thankfully I wore a black dress so it didn't show the stain of wine. I looked at my reflection on the mirror and smiled sadly. My makeup was all gone, I had wiped it all out after the wine ruined it. I carried my self out of the washroom and met the waitress from earlier, trying to clear the dishes from the table. I watched her for a minute. “Was she going to dispose all that food? We didn't even eat them. Nelly and I could have that for dinner.” I muttered. “Hi” I called and walked up to her. “Please pack them to go. I'll wait” I said. She looked at me strangely for a second before smiling. “Oh ma’am, sorry I got lost there. You mean pet takeouts right? If yes then sure! I can pack the untouched meals in a cute mini pet takeout”
